Makis Studios — Hotel in Argostoli Municipality

I can't recommend these studios enough. Location excellent 3 minutes from town 5 from beach. Lots of great bars and restaurants. Effie and Rita were amazing., nothing was too much trouble. We stayed beginning of August for 12 nights. We gave honest feedback when we left and they were grateful for that. As in bathroom a little small. Some rooms have been updated and some are on hold due to lockdown. Rooms were cleaned every day. Bed and towels done when needed. Pool,bar and surroundings very clean. Morevthan enough sunbeds and yes maybe a couple need updating but they were fine and did the job. Remember these are self-catering studios not a hotel. Effie was so helpful with tips of where to eat drink and visit locally and with the car. Gave advice on best boat trips. Caption Vangelis was great. Skala is lovely, clean and friendly, we didn't have a bad meal. Locals are lovely and friendly. Top tips....buy a snorkel, go to captains bar, go to flamingos restaurant, Sally's bar. Go to Argolstoti to see turtles. Visit the cave and lake....So many lovely places to eat and see. Effie and Rita are so lovely they work long hours and are always happytosee you. Second time staying here, run by a lovely sociable family. Perfect location in the village of skala, a 5 min walk to the beach, but still out of the way that it's very quiet. Rooms are cleaned every day (usually at the same time everyday) and sheets/towels changed every 2 days. They even wash your dishes which I was pleasantly surprised at. The pool bar has a food menu and extensive drinks menu and is open till late. The pool is open from 8 and is cleaned every morning before hand. (Just a warning about all the cats that roam the hotel area (and all of skala for that matter) the hotel staff try their best to deter them and urge tourists not to feed them but many do and so they come back. If the people who stayed in the room before you have fed the cats, you will know about it haha)

Overall, this is my family's favourite hotel in skala and we have stayed in upward of 15 different ones over the past 20 years, but Makis Studios is now the only one we are going to...

To summarise I would say that this hotel is great. ||Having visited 6 years prior it is as good as it was then. The location is a short walk to an abundance of excellent restaurants and also less than 10 minutes to the beach. The surrounding area is nice and quiet so the short walks are absolutely fine. ||Pool days are good here because there are adequate sun beds for the amount of rooms/guests. The bar is nicely stocked with a varity of beverages and food is available throughout the day for lunch and breakfast. ||Everywhere is kept exceptionally clean. Your room, the pool and all areas are cleaned every day. ||Effie is a great host and always has a smile. She even sourced and provided a birthday cake for one of us on his special day. ||The only negatives are that the self catering utensils/cooking facilities are limited however for the price you pay to come here it’s cheap enough to eat out...
