Kitro Beach Hotel — Hotel in Municipality of Agios Nikolaos

Travelled to this hotel as a last minute escape. What a find. The poor gentleman that greeted me had to wait up as my flight and transfers got me to the hotel minutes before 3am. He was so friendly and welcoming despite the late arrival.

I had a beach facing room and drifted off to sleep and woke up by the sound of the waves. Breakfast is adequate and varied. Something for everyone I would say. The view of the sea is a fantastic start to any holiday/day.

The staff are extremely helpful and kind. The lady owner is extremely knowledgeable and advised me on where to eat, how to navigate the area and was an amazing help. I'm extremely grateful to her and her family and staff for making me feel so welcome, especially as I was a solo traveller wanting a relaxing break.

The hotel is central to the beach, marina, restaurants, supermarkets, tour operators for day trips, boat trips, a local bus, touring train. The list is endless.

If you're thinking about visiting this amazing hotel. Do not hesitate you will have an amazing, relaxing, welcoming time and will not be disappointed.

For me the only negative was the transfer, in the early hours of the morning, when you just want to get to bed after your flight, which took well over an hour. I would advise that you get a private transfer, especially if there are a few of you and you can share the cost.

Apart from that, I'd highly recommend this beautiful gem of a hotel. For my first visit to Crete and Greece. It has left amazing lasting memories I will always cherish.

Things we liked ||- Location! Right on the seafront with fantastic views and just off the road of the free city bus! ||- Lovely outside area for breakfast sat by the sea. ||- Great communal area downstairs with TV and boons with comfortable sofas. ||- Newly renovated/clearly recently touched up with nice decor. ||- Nice bathroom and a good shower cubicle with complimentary shower gel and hand wash. ||- Fantastic breakfast! Good choice of hot and cold items with fruits, olive spreads, breads, 'bacon', boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, salad and meat/cheese. Nice to also get a toaster! ||- Friendly and welcoming staff. ||- Nice and clean: I found only one hair on the bathroom floor and a curly one in the toilet. Communally, it was very clean and tidy. Fresh and modern. ||- WiFi, air conditioning and TV included at no extra cost. ||Things we didn't like||- Balcony too small and actually quite difficult/dangerous to sit in the chairs because of how small it is. ||- Ongoing noise and terrible smells from the drains. ||- Noisy aircon/electric units outside in the void area of balconies during the night. ||- Kettle/tea/coffee in the room would have been nice. ||- TV and aircon included but only 1 English channel.||- Slight attention to detail lacking regarding a light out in the bedroom and bathroom, a shower hose that didn't stay up so you had to hold it permanently and some marks/holes on the walls where things had clearly once been. ||- No full length mirror in...

Hotel is very well situated and perfect for a 3-4 day stay. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast setting, right by the sea (in the shade !) is outstanding. Make sure you get a sea view room ! Since it is overlooking several restaurants its a bit noisy, so you'll have to sleep with closed balcony door ... also necessary to keep the AC going. The rooms are relatively small, e.g. only about 60 cm between the foot of the bed and the wall. Matresses are 80x20 cm, compared to 90x200 cm (standard).
