Παραδοσιακό — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Nikolaos

Brilliant place and very popular as food is fresh and delicious. Great flavours and seasoning and at good prices so not a ripoff at all which is such a relief! We were a birthday lunch party and the service kicked off top knotch with superb hostesses speaking perfect English for us and describing the daily specials in detail. Sadly after the food and beautiful sweets had been served we were pretty much ignored so we had to approach the hinterland by the cash desk a few times in order to get drink refills etc. I'm not sure why the service just disappeared and I didn't feel my trips to the back requesting more drinks were appreciated that much - maybe because the clock was by then at 17.00 and the early evening diners were arriving. I'm not sure. This will not prevent us from returning however; it's too good to dismiss and we already have another lunch party planned. It's an amazingly friendly atmosphere generally and pets...

Ate here because of the positive reviews. There were no specials on Sunday night which was disappointing. We managed to get a window seat overlooking the sea. Service was good with the main man very charming. The two complimentary mezes were good. We ordered starters first as we prefer two courses rather than everything coming close together. Like all the Cretan restaurants we have eaten in, we noticed this was the case here. The fried zucchini with cheese was delicious as were the anchovies, we ordered a Greek salad to accompany both courses. Both were large portions so we stuck starters rather than main courses. Sausage was not available (first choice) so went for meatballs in tomato sauce and two pork souvlaki. Again all delicious. Free chocolate cake with ice cream was a lovely finish to a good meal. With a litre of house red the bill came to 39.40 euros. Cards...

Food is ok (nothing special) but very expensive in comparison to other much better places in Crete. Service was terrible! We sat on the table, ordered by marking our choices on a copy of the menu. The first dishes arrived very late with no drinks that we had ordered. We had to ask 4 times to get a bottle of water. The sequence of dishes was incorrect, they firstly brought us the main dishes and then the starter 😵‍💫 During payment they had overcharged us a bottle of water because they got confused due to the number of times we requested water. They also charged us bread while they never brought any bread. They gave us back the extra charge in cash. One of the worst places in Crete to eat!...
