Would just like to start by saying this would've been a 5 star review with a 10€ tip right up until the end. We visited Archontiko as I saw it was voted 1 on trip advisor and had good reviews on Google. Food was absolutely delicious, we had the fish roe salad (dip) and pitta bread to start. We then ordered the grilled dorado, moussaka and a greek salad (all to share). We also had a carafe of red wine to share and a large bottle of still water. Service was great throughout. We asked for the bill and then received a shot of raki each and some fruit on the house. We said we were paying by card which the main (I would say owner/manager) came over and stated "about 80€ euro pay" first of all didn't give a difinitive number but also I had added this up as we decided what we want to which came to 58€ so knew that this was wrong. So I said to him I thought it should be about 58€ to which he just replied the same "no 80€" so I asked to see the bill which he hadn't actually given us and I said this wasn't right, before I actually had time to look at it he took it off me and went back to the restaurant, came back and said no this is accurate. So he began to read it back alongside the actual order to which he realised the most expensive dish had been added on twice... (we were also charged for two pittas and when it came it did look like a large portion but we had only asked for one as we had ordered a lot already). He then apologised and then said "you pay 90€ on card and I give 22€ back". What a joke. He said the extra 10€ which had been added already been added on was a service charge. Bare in mind we had already decided we were going to give 10€ tip before they decided to rip us off so instead my partner said no we will pay 60€ cash and that's it. Really soured the experience which is a shame. Make sure you check your bill if you do decide to go here. You may think the extra may have been an accident but he was quite rude when I politely said it wasn't right and this is the only restaurant out of all 7 we have gone to this week which hadn't given the itemised bill before paying...

I had one of the worst dining experiences at this taverna in Agios Nikolaos. Despite being the most expensive meal we had in the area, the quality was absolutely appalling. The house white wine was the worst I’ve ever tasted – almost undrinkable. The octopus was over-grilled to the point of being unrecognizable, lacking the tenderness you’d expect. The vegetables were completely bland, lacking any seasoning, and the salad tasted like it came straight out of a tube. Even the baked pita bread seemed to be reheated rather than freshly made. The Greek feta salad was another huge disappointment. The feta’s quality was shockingly poor, especially when compared to other restaurants in the area. As for the dessert – in Greece, it’s customary to receive a small treat at the end of your meal. In other restaurants, we were treated to delightful, handmade pastries that tasted wonderful. Here, we were given nothing but a couple of old watermelon slices and a few grapes, presented in the most unenthusiastic way possible. I truly don’t understand how this place has received so many positive reviews, but I suppose it always depends on who’s doing the rating. Maybe we just had a bit of bad luck, but this is not a place I would recommend or ever visit again.

Highly recommended! We’ve walked down to this restaurant from Niko sea side resort as the weather was overcast and wasn’t too hot. Archontiko was some amazing views of the sea and mountains in the background. We was lucky enough to get a table overlooking the sea. The food was amazing, I had the small cheese pie (which is fried dumpling with goats cheese inside, moussake and my wife had chicken gyros. We had house wine and local beer as well. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn and it absolutely chucked it down along with thunder and lightning (we was undercover, and they do put sides up to prevent rain coming in). As a compliment, the waiters offered us dessert for free, but we was happy to pay. My wife had the baklava and I had lemon sorbet. She was offered a cognac to go with hers for free and I was offered a shot of vodka. The owner by the looks of it, who tells me he doesn’t drink alcohol, poured the vodka into my sorbet and suprisingly, it was nice and refreshing with a zing of alcohol. Very reasonable priced, no doubt this restaurant looks amazing at night. Friendly staff as well which is always a bonus and they don’t seem to pester passer by unless of course you’re looking at the menu. Yamas!

Absolute garbage! Try your best to avoid this place. It's the classic tourist trap. We went to this place just by looking at the rating and it was the worst mistake of our trip. Reading the reviews now, they seem all fake. Even in the photos they posted, the food looks dreadful.

From the entry things looked gloomy. All guests, as few as they were (shouldn't have ignored that), were silent. No smile could be seen on any face of the staff, probably because they knew what kind of food they served. Nonetheless, we stayed. What a bad call that was. After we ordered, we could hear other guests complaining about the food while leaving. Yet another warning, but we had already ordered, it was too late.

The food came out blisteringly fast, another warning sign, and looked awful. The fish was completely dry, the shrimps were severely overdone, and the souvlaki was partially pink in the middle. The fish was accompanied by "grilled vegetables" which were soggy and tasteless. It was extremely obvious that nothing was fresh and all the food was pre-made, hopefully earlier during the day, if not even the day before, and just reheated on the grill before serving. The grill was also obviously not cleaned for ages as it impared all the food rancid and burnt taste.

I repeat, do not make the mistake to stop here. Walk away!

Edit with response for the owner's comment: please stop lying or at least lying to yourself. Visiting your restaurant is like watching an episode of Restaurant Impossible. You are making people sick. You can do better. You can be a better example for Greek tourism, as are many other restaurants and taverns. It's not that hard to put out decent food, you just have to care. I will look into what Greek authority can do an inspection...

We ate here one of the first days of our stay in Agios Nikolaos. I had the Pork knuckle which was quite good. My girlfriend and I went there to eat again tonight and was very disappointed. I had the Rib eye and was asked how i liked it cooked, which was nice. I like my meat medium-rare but I had a rib eye that was well-done, very dry and a bit too salty. The waiter asked if it was okay and I told her no. The meat was so poorly cooked I had no faith they would get it right. So we planned just to pay and leave, but they insisted making it right. Which is good costumer service. Unfortunately the 2nd rib eye came out completely raw. It was not even cooked bleu. I asked for the check and that made the waiter/staff very aggressive. The female waiter and what i assume was the owner came to our table and blamed me for not liking what i asked for. We felt verbally attacked, they had the chance to own up to their mistake. They asked to cook the rib eye for a 3rd time, but after that experience we wasn't feeling comfortable staying there. They brought out raki and fruit, but it was very awkward to stay there, so we left a tip and walked out. Restaurants stands and fall on their costumer service. I'll give them they tried to make it right, but their hostile attitude was unpleasent. Blaming the costumer for being difficult is rude, especially when you serve a well-done and completely raw rib eye. It's one of the easiest thing to get right and you messed it up badly both the food and...
