Where do I start. I would infact give this 2.5 star if I could.||Sadly this fell well below 4* accommodation. We did let the rep know we intended to complain on return but as we could not move accommodation due having a child who would not have coped with a change in accommodation, we did not want to cause a hostile atmosphere with the owners on day 2. We did speak to the hotel staff at the end of the holiday about the concerns, ||We chose Koutrakis Suites based on its advertised 4-star rating, glowing 4.7 Trustpilot reviews, and the promotional images on the jet2 website. Unfortunately, the reality fell significantly short of what was promised.||On Jet2 website, the pool area is advertised with photos of spaced out wooden sunloungers with plush mattresses. The pool was surrounded by cheap, uncomfortable yellow metal sunbeds crammed together with no space between them.||The rooms were advertised as spacious and light-filled. Ours had no windows in the living/sleeping area, chipped flooring, and a dangerously exposed metal stopper in the bathroom. ||The hotel’s amenities were extremely limited, the Wi-Fi was virtually non-existent. Paying extra for pool towels and a safety deposit box in a supposed 4-star hotel is unacceptable.||The breakfast was concerning: eggs left out for hours, and dairy products not chilled. This raises serious hygiene concerns. We didn’t have breakfast after day 2. || I found it unacceptable that the owners tried to stop guests from visiting the neighbouring hotel due to a feud and pressuring them to leave 5-star reviews, sometimes offering free drinks as incentive. (At least 3 guests informed me about the pressure on leaving a review as there had been some negative ones left earlier in the week)||The pool area was rarely cleaned. A tag I dropped remained untouched for five days. There was a rusted knife on our balcony wall and another among broken furniture stored around the pool, both of which I photographed. The downstairs toilets were just awful.||Staff asked for tips when settling bills, and there was undue pressure to attend hotel-run events like bingo and BBQs. Guests who didn’t participate or spend money at the bar were treated coldly. We spent money at the bar during the day so were ok, others told us a different story.||The staff were great with our little one, so kind and they were mostly great with us too. BUT, you cannot dictate where people go to, the feud needs to end. It was the talk of the pool and actually made people more inquisitive to visit (we did go, 3 times) ||I would not have made this review had it been classified as a 3, I would expect the standards for this class hotel. However, this is supposed to be a 4 and if most definitely is not.||Fab location, fab sea views. Met some fantastic families but the hotel...
Read moreIt is very hard to understand how this place is rated a 4-star by any one’s standards. My Dad booked a family stay here from Aug 10-17. Me and my 2 kids had a family 3 bedroom suite. My Dad was in a separate room. Ha! What we had was a double bed and a sofa - the 3rd bed is not a sofa bed, it’s just a sofa, and a very poor example of a sofa that they put a sheet on. My teen daughter was supposed to sleep on a sofa for a week? Her feet were hanging off the end. We booked though Jet 2 and is states sofa bed, which one would expect means a sofa that converts into a bed. Nope. The room is very down at heel, the furniture is worn, and old. You don’t get drawers; they have a desk as the main piece of furniture. It is clean at least. We had a very old AC unit that on the 1st night kept shutting off so we were up every hour to turn it back on. And we only stayed 1 night, We were so disappointed with the sub par level of accommodation that we left after 1 night and found an AirBnB. |You are required to pay a govt. tax o 10 Euros per day but they won’t let you pay by CC, they want cash. This govt. tax is between 7 and 10 euro for a 4-star hotel, and Koutrakis are charging 10. My dad asked for a receipt for this tax a few times and was told “oh our accountant isn’t here but we’ll email it to you”. Never did.||You are charged 5 euros a day for your towels; if you want a fresh towel each day that’s another 5 euro so for a family of 4, for a week you would end up paying 140 euro total. Every 4-star hotel I’ve stayed at they either give you the towels for free, or you give a deposit and get it back.||The hotel is family run and watch out, the family will be up in your business the entire time. We were there for just 1 day and their presence was overwhelming they are always asking you what you doing pressuring you to come to activities (BBQ), pressuring for tips, you feel like you are being watched by them. They also have a beef with the neighbouring hotel and it was the first thing they told us when we booked in. They warn you not to go there.||BTW - when we told the staff that we just couldn’t stay due to the poor accommodation and the sofa bed being just a sofa, they just shrugged their shoulders, didn’t offer any remedy, and then asked for the government daily fee! ||I am beyond disappointed with this hotel. It’s NOT at the standard expected of a 4-star and it should be reevaluated to a 3-star. I do not recommend this place and would advise you to...
Read moreKOUTRAKIS SUITES in Sissi, Crete, is a small and cozy resort best suited for couples and perhaps a small family with one child.||The rooms were well-maintained with daily cleaning and fresh towels, which I appreciated. ||They kindly granted my request to be moved to a GF Room due to my disabilities.||The pool area is lovely and ideal for lounging, though it's not deep enough for swimming.||However, I was disappointed with the staff and facilities. On arrival, we had to find our way to the pool bar where we were met by the Main host. On the way to our room she asked us to not go go to the hotel opposite as she does not get on with the owners. I thought this an odd request but hey!||The food and refreshments were limited and were not regularly replenished or kept warm. Breakfast was served from 9 am to 11 am, which is quite late for me.||The constant presence of the family on-site, intended to enhance customer service, felt more stifling than welcoming. |||It was uncomfortable and unprofessional that staff discussed their grievances with fellow guests with me. || I was also reprimanded and berated several times for drinking my sparkling water in the communal area. Bearing in mind, if one wanted to relax, you had the choice of your own unshaded balcony, the pool or bar area. Hmmmmm!|| This was particularly odd since still water or beverages from my Stanley cup were allowed without issue. ||On two occasions having returned late to the accommodation with my child, I'd forgotten to pay my bar bill at the end of the day, the reminders I received the following morning were delivered in an aggressive manner with much berration.||The connectivity was very poor, affecting access to the internet. In the evenings, there was no WiFi available at all, which would have been less of an issue if I could have spent or desired to spend our evenings at the pool bar.||While I understand the family needs to earn a living during high season, the emphasis on every penny spent felt intrusive and detracted from the holiday experience.||Overall, if this 4-star resort were rated as 3-star, my expectations would have been met. It's a pleasant place for the few select, but I will likely choose a different location if I visit...
