Great apartments, we stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for 6 days. We had booked for 10, however upon arrival there had been an overbooking so we stayed at Palm Bay (see other review) Apartments which is a 3 minute walk from Marigianna.
We were still able to have breakfast and use the facilities at Marigianna whist in the other apartments, which was a touch because they were not as nice.
In comparison Marigianna is a far nicer establishment. Ianna, Billy and their dad Manos are amazing people and great hosts. Marigianna is a small family run apartments, where guest return year after year and we can see why. The customer service is excellent and they work tirelessly all day into the early hours.
Rooms: upon entering our 1 bedroom apartment we were pleasantly surprised by how clean and airy it was. With some nice touches such as a broom and dustpan to sweep up sand at the end of the day. (I have lost count how many holidays I have been on and get irritated with sand in the hotel room). Not here. Another plus was the ice cube tray in the fridges’ freeze compartment 👌🏾
Breakfast: this was the best touch breakfast is from 9am - 12pm. I can’t tell you how many times I have missed breakfast on holiday because it finishes at 9:30 or 10 am. Marigianna definitely know how to help their guests relax. The other added bonus is its all cooked fresh to order, instead of the usual buffet that sits under heaters.
Pool: the pool is a decent depth which gets deeper. It is fresh water, which was great for my hair. With a cleaning robot which is put into the pool every morning to keep it clean. The temperature initially feels cold but once you are in it’s lovely. As we went just as the season was cooling off 9th - 19th September the pool was pretty empty so you were able to have a nice swim. This also means that there were plenty of sun loungers and enough space for guests to spread out. The hotel also has a lovely garden with a climbing frame for children and plenty of space for kids to run around as well as a kids Pool. So would be ideal holiday spot for those with children. There is also an area where weddings can be held for any looking for a destination wedding, it’s definitely worth a look too.
Bar: Billy’s cocktails are legendary, the melon mojito was delicious not to mention the cocktail without a name, it’s a creeper but definitely worth trying.
Location: Sissi is more a harbour town so does not have any beaches, however we hired a car and drove to a few beaches. Malia and Potamos Beachs are an 8 and 6 minute drive from Sissi respectively. Although we found Malia beach to be extremely busy (the beach is quite long, and there are less busy parts we just didn’t stay on this occasion). Potamos beach we found to be less busy and a bit cleaner to Malia, plus the food truck makes the best Gyos, pronounced yee-ros, we actually drove to the beach one day on the way back to the hotel from the aquarium for a Gyos. Ammoudara Beach was lovely, however this one was much further out being a 45 minute drive from Sissi. The furthest and best beach we visited was Skinaria beach, a 2 hours and 19 minute drive from Sissi. It has the most beautiful waters you will find on the island, if you are ok driving along mountain sides this is definitely worth a day trip.
Overall: the hotel is spotless and service top tire. We can see why people have returned here year after year for decades. We will definitely be back.

Read moreThese apartments are family run and most of the family, who are so very welcoming and friendly, appear to live there too. This meant the number of spare apartments available for guests was small - resulting in a very quiet pool area, which allowed us to relax and unwind without the hustle and bustle of many other Apartments nearby. The pool area is surrounded by beautiful greenery and flowers, which are well kept and colourful when in bloom. ||The Apartments are at the top end of the town, but the bars, restaurants and beach are all within 10mins walking distance, only down side is that you have to cross a busy road. ||Located nearby are two little supermarkets which has the bulk of what you would need, so you do have to carry heavy bottles or bags from the main town supermarket.||The Apartments are also located right next to bus stop 15, and the buses are so easy to use (simply jump on and tell the conductor where you want to go) - making a day trip to places such as Heraklion, Hersonissos, Malia, Sissi and Agiou Nikolaos so very simple and affordable.||The rooms are very clean and spacious, and the one we were in had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool area. ||The air conditioning and wifi is included in the already low cost for staying here, so if you want value for money this is definitely the place to stay.||The only things of note that I think some would see as a reason not to stay would be:||1) the age and decor of the apartment, not that it is bad, but it simply could do with some modernisation.|2) there is no pool bar or restaurant area ||Both of these points didn't bother us and the price reflects what you get. The peace and quiet around the pool was a good thing for us, but a family may want everything on their own doorstep rather than having no option...
Read moreWould definately recommend Marigianna. A lovely small family run hotel in an excellent location within the beautiful Sissi. The staff that work there are so kind and friendly and genuinely wanted us to have the very best stay. ||The rooms are basic but clean. Small shower and small balcony. Don’t expect what you would from a 4* resort in Spain as it is different - but we knew this and were more than happy so no complaints. We had everything we needed. Had to pay for aircon and glad we did as this was a necessity. The pool and bar area is lovely. Plenty of different seating areas and never too busy. Felt comfortable sitting down there at any time of day or night. You take the sunbeds yourself and choose where you want them, so no such thing as sunbed wars and plenty of space to put wherever you want. Nice pool at the perfect temperature, not freezing cold so easy to get in but lovely and refreshing! Bring your own towels for loungers. ||Location wise it is a couple mins walk from bars, shops and restaurants. And 5 mins walk to the Harbour area - you need to visit for a swim! Sissi is beautiful and has the most stunning sunset, would recommend going to Anixi to watch this! Incredible food, service and views! Bring cash rather than card, although you can pay by card everywhere the cash is much appreciated by the businesses. ||Breakfast and food throughout the day available until around 6pm. Huge cocktail menu and loved the ones we tried! ||Overall would 100% recommend this hotel. Thank you for making us feel so welcome, we loved every minute of being here and were so...
