We stayed at the Kymāni Boutique Hotel from September 15th to 29th, 2025, and overall, we had a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm and heartfelt welcome. Throughout our stay, the staff were always kind, attentive and genuinely interested in how we were doing – it felt very personal. We had a Junior Suite on the first floor, which was tastefully decorated, comfortable and inviting. The large terrace with a partial sea view was lovely – during the first week, when strong winds made the beach almost impossible to enjoy, we spent most of our time there or by the pool, which were both pleasantly sheltered. The whole property is beautifully designed and surrounded by a small, well-kept garden. The Cretan breakfast was delicious – we enjoyed it four times during our stay, served on our terrace. Only on the last day was the strapatsada (eggs with tomato and feta) a little too salty, but otherwise everything was excellent. There are a few small points for improvement: The sound insulation could be better. Our room was located on the same level as the reception, so we occasionally heard people talking outside late in the evening. We also heard some noise from neighbouring rooms (for example, chairs being moved), and sometimes even voices from the adjacent room – not word for word, but conversations were clearly audible, especially a man’s voice talking until 5 a.m. one night. Due to the nearby road and the strong wind, it wasn’t possible to sleep with the windows open – it quickly became stuffy in the room. We therefore used the air conditioning in sleep mode at night, which worked fine and was quiet enough. There was also a slight smell from the bathroom drains in the afternoons, and the mattresses were very firm – despite the topper, we woke up with back pain that thankfully disappeared after an hour or so. Housekeeping was very thorough – the room was cleaned daily and towels were replaced every day, even when unused. After I emailed the hotel about this (as it didn’t match their own sustainability notice in the room), they immediately adjusted it, which we appreciated. A very nice gesture at the end of our stay: we received a small bottle of Cretan olive oil as a gift, carefully packed for travel – plus a bag of ice cubes because it was such a hot day. Conclusion: A beautiful, stylish boutique hotel with warm-hearted staff who make you feel welcome from the very first day. With some minor improvements in soundproofing, plumbing and mattress comfort, it would easily be a perfect...
Read moreThe Kymani is absolutely fabulous!!! It was breathtakingly gorgeous and luxurious, so comfortable and relaxing, as well as managed and run by SUCH friendly and hospitable people. My wife and I felt SO spoiled here on our honeymoon. We stayed for three nights and absolutely fell in love with Plakias and the Kymani. Where to begin - the staff surprised us with a bottle of complimentary greek wine and a personal note in our room to make our honeymoon extra special, their breakfast every morning was some of the best food we ate in all of Crete (no joke), their local recommendations of restaurants and beaches and activities were incredible, and they arranged several activities and excursions for us around the area (including a private boat tour!) which turned out to be a big highlight of our honeymoon and their work arranging it for us just made our time in Plakias so relaxing, vs. my wife and I having to do all the research to plan those excursions ourselves. Like I said, the amazing staff at the Kymani absolutely spoiled us. We chatted with all the staff as much as we could during our three day stay and we really felt like they were some of the most friendly and kind people we had every met. We did NOT want to leave at the end of our trip, and believe me, we'll come back here hopefully many more times! Please do yourself a favor and stay here! And not just that, but spend some time getting to know the staff, order the breakfast, take their local recommendations, be good guests, and get ready for a more relaxing and enjoyable stay than you can imagine :). To all the Kymani staff, thank...
