I'd like to tell you about wonderful taverna in our neighbourhood. The Manousos is small, but very cozy and romantic. The area is decorated with great taste. The restaurant is very suitable for romance or friends meeting. The waiters are wonderful and attentive. You can order lamb chops, the chicken fillet and the Crete salad. All dishes are prepared, issued and served in the best traditions of Greek cuisine. In addition to your order, at first you are brought cut baguette and oil with herbs. It is very delicious. To say the truth rates may be slightly above average, but for this level of the taverna, in my opinion, they are more or less normal. I strongly recommend you to come here because the time spent in this taverna has a good sense of celebration.

To my opinion this is the best restaurant at Plakias. Everyday they serve daily fresh authentic Greek specialities besides their regular menu, some unique dishes I have never eaten before in Greece and it is really daily fresh food and cooked to perfection. Very delicious house wine too. Quick, attentive and friendly service, a cosy relaxed place for dinner. I suggest to ask about their daily specialites, it is amazing Greek food. Their prices are good, especially for this kind of quality. A must visit when you are at Plakias. Highly recommended. And if your are there at the high season at Plakias, it can be useful to make a reservation to be sure to have a table for you.

Conoscevamo questo locale dagli anni scorsi, dove ne abbiamo apprezzato la cucina autentica e gustosa a prezzi ragionevoli, uno dei pochi validi nel "mare magnum" della ristorazione di plakias, purtroppo in generale molto "turistica" nel peggior senso della parola...ma quest'anno, bruttissima sorpresa, abbiamo riscontrato prezzi rincarati in modo francamente esagerato...la prima sera che siamo passati abbiamo visto con molto sconcerto la lavagna esterna con le loro proposte del giorno, dove erano indicate le meatballs (ossia le polpette di carne speziata) a 14,50€, il maiale cotto lentamente al forno a 16,50€ e il pesce spada a 20,00€...ripassati altre sere, stessa musica stonata di prezzi alle stelle nelle proposte del giorno, con ad es. la lasagna agli spinaci con formaggi locali a 12,00€ (unico prezzo non irragionevole...), mousaka' della mamma a 14,50€ e fresh sea bream da 500 gr. a ben 23,00€...ovviamente abbiamo tirato diritto e tolto dal nostro personale elenco dei ristoranti da visitare, almeno per quest'anno, il manousos... Dopo aver letto la replica del proprietario, di cui apprezziamo senz'altro i modi garbati, offro la nostra contro-replica...nel nostro periodo di vacanza di quest'anno abbiamo avuto modo di visitare diversi locali, alcuni già apprezzati negli anni scorsi, altri nuovi e la nostra esperienza è che vi è stato ovunque un inevitabile rincaro, dovuto ai costi crescenti delle materie prime e dei costi fissi delle imprese, che è senz'altro comprensibile e giustificabile...ma chiedere 14,50€ per la mousaka' e altrettanto per le meatballs e oltre i 20€ per i piatti di pesce, ci sembra francamente oltre ogni ragionevole esigenza di coprire l'aumento dei costi ma ci pare più una volontà del locale di indirizzarsi verso un target di clientela meno "popolare"...e quindi non noi, che invece apprezziamo molto i locali magari un po' rustici, senza troppi fronzoli ma che mantengono un'ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo...

From the moment we stepped into Taverna Manousos, we were transported into a world of authentic Cretan hospitality and exquisite flavors. The restaurant boasts a cozy ambiance that perfectly complements the delicious dishes served. We had the pleasure of dining here on three separate occasions, and each visit was as memorable as the last.

A special shoutout to the attentive and accommodating wait staff, Illias and Jessica. Their warm smiles and prompt service made our dining experience all the more delightful. It's rare to find staff that are consistently attentive and friendly, and these two are gems!

If you're in Crete and seeking a dining experience that's a cut above the rest, Taverna Manousos should undoubtedly be on your list. Each dish is a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs and the rich traditions of Cretan cuisine. We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and the promise to return on our next visit to the island.

When we turned up, the restaurant was full and we had the last table. We thought that this was a good sign. Unfortunately there was only one waiter taking orders and bringing out the food (so doing everything basically). There were two other 'workers' but they were just not doing much. So after a 30 min wait our orders were taken. Up till then we hadn't even had our drink order taken. Once order was taken, it took another 45mins for the food to appear, although we did get our drinks soon after ordering. The food was good and tasty but not outstanding. This is the kind of place to enjoy each others company and have a good conversation over a leisurely meal. When we arrived everybody was nice and helpful to us, we thought that this restaurant is another nice Cretean place like the others. I asked for an uncovered shrimp but it seemed the waitress lady doesnt understood me, I was served a shrimp with its armor.She has been very helpful to solve the situation, she removed the armors from the plate. My course was terrible, I was unable to eat it.When we finished they seem to forget us and they didnt take the plates away for about 30 minutes until we asked for the bill. We didnt have the exact amount therefore we gave more but the waitress guy didnt care about the change and has started cleaning other tables. We were waiting for another 10 minutes and then with a help of a local guy we could get our money back. Absolutely...
