We stay in this “hotel” for 12 days. The only good thing is the location from Plakias beach, like 5 minutes by feet. Plakias beach is pretty clean (take care about the nudist part of you are not good with that). Be aware that you will have to pay 5 or 6 euros for a sunbath set (but you can invest 5-10 euros for an umbrella at supermarket).||Some days the hard wind (35km/h) makes the beach useless, so you think to enjoy the pool of the “hotel”... which is a good idea if you choose the day when they just cleaned it. However, you have to wait one week or to enjoy green water (no filter, no products, no one to clean it everyday) - and take care of the many insects there.||If you cannot enjoy neither beach nor pool, you can stay in you room. If you need to use the bathroom, you should bring your own curtain for the shower because the one here might be there since they opened the “hotel”. The size of the bathroom is really practical : you can take a shower, use the toilets and brush your teeth at the same time... About the room, be aware that safe is an extra (2€/day), climatisation is an extra (6€/day), fridge is an extra (3€/day). The supermarket is 2 minutes by feet, you will find fresh food and drinks, without paying extras ;)||Talking about food, if you have choice when you book your room (if you really cannot find another place to stay), you should avoid the “breakfast” offer. If you want to enjoy, you can go by feet in 5 minutes to Alianthos hotel (all you can eat for 6 euros - and for 8 euros the evening). The “breakfast” at Lofos is everyday the same : bread, little industrial marmelades, fake juice, fake coffee, industrial ham and cheese slices, hard egg. Really not an hotel breakfast. ||The people who works here can be friendly but they change a little bit when it’s about money. You have to ask for all when they “offer” something (usually you will have to pay). The girl who makes the rooms cleaning is really friendly and professional. Hopefully the daughter of the owners were here few days to give good advices about the things you can do in Plakias (if you have to rent a car, make your own searching : the “offer” of the owners is one of the most expensive of the city).||If I have to sum up : Plakias is a really nice city to visit (remember that you will need a car if you want to make something else than beach), Lofos Hotel is not a choice to keep in mind (even if you have to stay few days less, pay a little more to enjoy real comfort in...
Read moreA day after our arrival there I found out that, contrary to the description, there is no internet in the rooms. It is available only at the reception area. . Warm water is there only in the morning and in the evening. The rest of the day it is cold water only. When we went to complain we saw other gusts there also complaining . I called Booking.com and filed a complaint but their intervention did not bring any results. A request to apply some discount to the price of the room was disregarded by the owner. The "swimming pool" there is about the size of a shoe box and reminds rather a small paddling pool for children. The woman owner sits by the entry door day and night and watches every move you make. Her dog starts barking at 6:00 AM daily. |Booking.com should adjust the false description of this hotel on their web page to warn other travellers what they...
Read moreWe stumpled upon this charming hotel while travelling through Crete in September 2010. We had originally planned to stay at a large, well known hotel in the centre of Plakias, but there was a mix up with our reservation there and so we decided to look for another place near by and lucky that we did as Hotel Lofos up on top of the hill was so much nicer (and cheaper). ||||The owners are lovely and very friendly (husband and wife), who will welcome you with a smile and are there to make your stay most pleasureable.||||The rooms are very clean, spacious and with air conditioning (which you will not need as the breeze from your balcony is so pleasant in the evening). There is no noise during the evening either....it is like you are miles away from the town, when in actual fact you are merely a 7...
