Read moreI had a lovely, relaxing one-week stay here. The hotel has a terraced area looking onto the sea, which is a beautiful place to sit for meals - especially in the evening. The food itself is top quality. For evening meals, there is an à la carte menu with lots of options or - my favourite - there is a menu of the day which at €20 is great value (and includes starter, main, generous salad bowl and dessert). The dishes change each day and are written up on a blackboard in the morning. Every meal I had at the hotel was delicious and Benitses is a short (approx 5 minutes) bus ride away, so it is easy to get out and visit other restaurants too. You can buy tickets for this from the reception desk at just €1.20 each way.||The hotel's private beach is beautiful and I had no problems securing a sun lounger each day, despite it being peak season (July). You do have to cross a road to reach it, and it can be quite busy at times, but after the first day I thought nothing of it.||I chose a room at the back of the hotel with a mountain view, which was beautiful, and the balcony was great for sitting out on as it got the sun in the evenings. The furniture in the room itself was a little outdated but this was of no concern to me. The room was clean on arrival and freshened up each day. Most importantly, the air conditioning system was brilliant and very easy to adjust. I slept like a log each night - which was great as I had been a little worried about how I would cope in the heat!||One of the hotel's biggest strengths is the family who run it - every member of staff I dealt with was really welcoming, attentive and generous. There is someone around 24/7 and they are always happy to help. Thank you all & I look forward to...
Read moreMy wife and myself stayed for over a week and very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is on the main road on the eastern coast, but even if you have a sea-facing room like we did, it's not very noisy (we slept with the window open without any issues). The hotel beach below the street level does not look like much at first sight, but it kind of grows on you, and by the end of the stay, we really liked it. It has freely accessible beach beds at no charge, so you don't have to think about bringing spare coins like on many public Greek beaches. The connection to Kerkyra with public transport is very good, the bus stop is right in front of the hotel, buses go every hour or so and cost just EUR 1.5 a ticket. Even so, you better rent a car for your stay, as it is kind of difficult to walk anywhere from the hotel, as the road is quite narrow and there are very few sidewalks. As regards the hotel itself, it's nice and clean, the cleaning lady did a spectacular job keeping our room clean on a daily basis, the hotel staff is very friendly, always smiling and happy to help with advice. Food is very good - breakfast has good selection, but the true highlight is the dinner, where you can have a very conveniently priced 3-course dinner of the day or choose from a la carte menu. Dishes are priced very reasonably. The view from the terrace is amazing, especially in the evenings. Last but not least, Achilleion, Sissi's palace, can be accessed via a tourist trail that starts right outside the hotel in about 30 minutes by walking. There are also a few other hiking opportunities in the area available. Overall, excellent value for money and would happily recommend this...
