Faliraki Beach Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

DON’T VISIT! I don’t recommend this place at all. First of all the beach is very underwhelming with a lot of rocks and pebbels. I was expecting a lot more considering the other raving reviews.

And the worst part is that the owner charged me extra money. I didn’t ask about the price beforehand since all the recent reviews from even two weeks ago says that it cost 10 Euro for 2 chairs and a umbrella.

When I went to pay after we were finished he wanted to charge me 20 Euro for 2 chairs and 1 Umbrella. I told him that all of the reviews on google says that the umbrella was included in the price with the chairs since the recent reviews from even 2 weeks ago people paid 10 Euro for 2 chairs and a umbrella.

He refuses to accept this and says that the price has changed since it’s high season. I find it very weird that in two weeks all of the sudden the price of a umbrella goes from 0 Euro to 10 Euro? And also the place was not even half full.

Honestly it’s not about the money but I don’t like visiting places that scam and overcharge tourist. There are so many nice beaches in Corfu with fantastic service that don’t try to overcharge tourists.

Amazing beach bar. We spend our last two days here and it was magical. The couple who opens this place is so kind and calm. It is a little oasis of rest; soft classical music, enough place between the beds, next to the sea. You can do some plane watching while you are sunbathing. Sunbeds were 5 euro per person in June. Great outdoor shower for after your swim. We had lunch twice; fresh and delicious food. You can buy fresh fruit, we had great cherries in the afternoon. The place is very clean. Zunächst einmal der Hinweis, das die private Faliraki-Strandbar nicht mit der benachbarten Emerald-Beachbar verwechselt werden sollte. Auf Google Maps sind die Standorte (August 2023) nicht korrekt eingezeichnet. Faliraki befindet sich nördlich von der Emerald Bar. Emerald gehört zum Angsana-Resort, nervt mit lauter Musik, ist total überteuert und hat arrogantes Personal. Hier also Faliraki: Cristina und Wassilis betreiben die Bar seit 1987, aber schon seit 1960 hatte Wassilis Vater hier ein Appartement. Übrigens eine interessante Familiengeschichte, Kaiser Wilhelm II war Taufpate vom Vater, aber das nur nebenbei. Man merkt den beiden überaus sympathischen Betreibern an, das sie ihr Herzblut in die Bar gesteckt haben. Alles ist sehr sauber und ordentlich, egal, ob Küche, Terrasse, Toiletten oder auch der Strand. Es ist einfach, nix durchgestylt wie nebenan bei Emerald, aber gerade das macht den Charme aus. Viel Grün, über der Terrasse wächst Wein, es gibt sogar eine kleine Bibliothek, wo Bücher in deutscher, englischer und holländischer Sprache ausliegen. Die Liegen mit Schirm kosten 10 € pro Tag, ein fairer Preis. Es gibt Wifi, welches auch am Strand funktioniert, der Strand selbst ist steinig. Das hat zwar den Nachteil, das man Badeschuhe tragen sollte, aber hat auch den Vorteil glasklaren Wassers. Beim Sandstrand ist das Wasser ja meist trübe. Cristina und Wassilis sind überaus herzliche Gastgeber, welche auch für das leibliche Wohl mit einfachen, aber schmackhaften Gerichten und besten Shakes, Frappés und Espresso-Freddos sorgen. Am Wochenende helfen auch schon mal Tochter Alexandra und Sohn Wilhelm mit aus, wollen wir hoffen, das sie eines Tages mal das Geschäft übernehmen.
