Taverna Tassos — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

Lovely little family run grill. Prices are reasonable and the food is fresh and incredibly tasty! My girlfriend and I had starters, drinks and a massive mixed grill which was more than enough for the two of us, with a traditional Greek salad accompanying it for under €50. We also went there for an English breakfast which was, to be expected, great.

It's normally fairly quiet as it's sat directly under the Aeolos Beach Resort, which has an abundance of its own restaurants and bars, however you shouldn't miss out on this place as it really does feel like a great representative of Greek life/cuisine. Even if you don't feel like eating, try the Royal Ionian Pilsner and their cocktails.

The taverna also sells tickets for the local bus service at cheaper rates, €1.70 each way to Corfu town or the other direction to Benitses.

Can't decide between 3 or 4 stars, so, I'm gonna award it 3,5. Good chicken souvlaki, tender&juicy meat, different from other souvlakis I've tried. Served with chips, salad and mustard. Fish and chips were a bit average, but, good nevertheless. Chocolate cake is not home made (sorry if I'm mistaken). It seemed microwaved and had a grainy texture. Decent, but, not what I expected. The waiter was accommodating. The location itself looks old fashioned, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but, it may seem uninviting. Staff: Lovely and couldn't help enough.

Location: Great location for us as we were staying at a nearby hotel, easy walking distance, nice views over the sea.

Food: Selection was very good and the quality was great. We came back here most nights as the hotel food wasn't great and this was so much better. It is good wholesome food, not fine dinning, but local dishes and for me what I am looking for when travelling. Local, tasty and good value for money.

Value for money: Very reasonable and worth every penny.

Conclusion: If I were ever in the area again I would be happy to return, lovely food, nice staff and good value for money. What more can...
