I've just come back from Paleokastriza with my friend, Claire. We had the most beautiful holiday thanks to our hosts, Spyros and his wife, Sophie. First of all, we arrived very late, around midnight...I let Spyros know beforehand and he expected us to give us the key to our room. Being such an excellent host, he made sure we had fresh water in the fridge, sugar and tea bags for the morning. Our studio was very clean, beautifully decorated in a Greek style and as a plus, we had a balcony and an amazing view over the sea and the mountains surrounding us. Spyros and Sophie were very helpful and kind to us, always ensuring that we were happy and had everything we needed: Spyros even drove us around Paleokastriza to show us the most beautiful beaches and on our last day he allowed us to keep the room until late as our plane didn't leave until evening. Spyros is a very charismatic man with a great personality, always putting a smile on our faces and up for joining us when fun was involved. :-)||I read reviews about the location of this place saying that it's up the hill and it's quite a walk to get there. Nonsense, the walk from the main street to the Manganas Studios takes only 3-5 min and it's very close to the main street-only 3-5 min away.||On the main street there are lots of shops and restaurants (all with WI-FI connection) with very helpful and welcoming people. Our favourite place was Nausika Tavern: I recommend to go for today's special and the Greek specialities wherever you go, the Greek cuisine is delicious. In terms of beaches and fun, Manganas Studios are within walking distance from all the main fun places. We recommend Cactus bar, The Apollon Restaurant, The Unlimit Bar, La Grotta. Get ready for the famous Greek Parties where you get the chance to dance on Greek music, to sing and smash plates!!! Trust me, it's extremely fun! The Akron beach is the closest to the Manganas Studios-5 min-, we spent a lot of time on it.||We loved our time there and will definitely want to...
Read moreVery spacious apartments run by a super-friendly, congenial host, set in the centre of Paleokastritsa. They are up a small hill and all grouped together attractively with flowers set around (the owner used to be a gardener). Large balcony overlooking the sea in the distance. Lots of facilities in kitchen area to be able to completely self-cater if you wanted to. The "Angel's pool bar" was right by, which can be used by residents of Manganas; it was a little noisy in the evenings but it calmed down after about 11.30pm. A/C in rooms worked very well, plus we had a ceiling fan. The bathroom was rather small - it did have a useful three quarters bath, but showering was difficult.||Overall, very good apartments offering great value. The owner and his wife were warm and genuinely welcomed everyone - they were delightful. ||The apartments are located in the middle of Paleokastritsa, just past Akron beach bar, turn right immediately adjacent to the Happyday grocery store/bakery. (This bakery has superb croissants, pain au chocolats and packed lunch sandwich rolls - everything you need for a packed lunch actually - the staff there are a bit rude though,...
Read moreWe had the BEST time staying at Eleni's place in Paleokastritsa! It's a really great area to base yourself in Corfu, and Eleni is just the nicest host ever! Always smiling and incredibly polite.
On arrival she helped us park, showed us our room and the fridge had a bottle of water with a plate of fresh fruit, I don't think any host has ever done this for us!
The kitchen is well equipped with olive oil, salt, pots and pans, plates and all of the utensils you would need to cook. There's a small toaster oven style cooker that has a 3 burner hop on top. Good enough for making pasta etc...
You can walk down to the cove to swim in around 10 minutes (access to the smaller beach is a little confusing) and you can do some of the best snorkelling here, the water is so clear it's like swimming in an aquarium.
There's also a great little supermarket at the end of the road, prices are fair and have a decent amount of vegan options too (for anyone looking).
Thank you Eleni for a truly amazing stay in Corfu, we would...
