A not so special moment was had here... Was staying next door in a hotel with quality simple and good serving of gyros with extra chips in the side for 4€ range... But had a hankering for some simple stuff from a real old school local joint... So sneaked into this when I had the chance... I planned to do it more often during stay as it was definitely appearing to be my style. But he lost himself a regular customer for the next week... I Asked the old fella at the counter, "Andreas" I am guessing, for a nice gyros pita. All friendly like in asking and he smiles and says €5. I ask if he is sure. He says yeah. I make it extra big for you blah blah... OK I give it a go. I am a fan of supporting these small eateries that are surrounded by hotels and big restaurants... A long over 10 minutes later he calls me over. I say cheers and unwrap and see a large pita bread and it's barely filed with anything. I rarely go back. But I just had to ask the question if this was the one i ordered... Maybe a mistake was made. He's like yeah and acts a bit shirty with me ... So i point out the lacking ingredients and 5 chips sitting atop and asking if he is sure... He's starts saying yep and is better than anything else in this town.... He was wrong about that. I felt a bit taken advantage of as just another one stop tourist to him... Empty pita no sauce no flavour no love.... I suggest anyone wanting a good random no questions food fix to try the big hotel with pool in the front just around the bend next door... Was "better than anything else in this town" Plus you get to enjoy...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a charming taverna that truly captures the essence of Greek cuisine. The highlight of my meal was the moussaka, which was absolutely delicious. It was perfectly baked, with layers of tender eggplant, flavorful ground meat, and a creamy béchamel topping that was both rich and satisfying. Each bite was a delightful experience that transported me straight to Greece.
Additionally, the Greek salad was a refreshing complement to the meal. It was made with fresh, crisp vegetables, ripe tomatoes, and tangy feta cheese, all drizzled with high-quality olive oil. The balance of flavors was spot on, making it a perfect side dish.
The atmosphere of the taverna was warm and inviting, with friendly staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Greek food. I can’t wait to return for another taste of that...
Read moreFood was average (too many potato chips, not to much meat, and almost no salad). Not even cheap, we had much better meals on the island for a lower prices (invoice included as attachment). Story time: The waiter who served us seamed really inexperienced while pouring our drinks, which was kind of proven when the plate fell down shattering the drinks and the glasses he brought with him. One of the broken pieces left a little cut above my girlfriends heels. We didn't even receive a simple "sorry" but we did receive some antiseptic to be fair. Though this might have been because the waiter did not speak English. (We didn't recall him speaking to us in English, he wasn't the one that took our order). We didn't try other restaurants in Paleokrastissa but most likely you can find...
