I'm really surprised about the reviews about this place, they must be fabricated as our experience was far from ideal. Our room was infested by ants (we also saw cockroaches in the corridor outside our room), wasn't delivered cleaned and was cleaned only once after we complained in our 9 day stay. The receptionist was out of line and racist when we complained about the cleanliness. Felt like they didn't care about the "hospitality" they are providing because "the hotel is quite old". About the facilities provided: a) our room had a broken small oven that was only there to hide whatever was behind the wall, b) cupboards felt like they have been recovered from different trips to the tip 60 years ago and then assembled together (rotten), c) the plates for a room that sleeps 4 we had one bowl, 2 small plates and 1 big plate. The place also doesn't even know what a mop is. The ants come out from the walls in the bathroom and got to the toothbrushes and toiletries. We generally avoided stay at the apartment, we would only go for a sleep and a shower. And a final thing, check out is by law (attached behind the door) at noon (12pm). We had a knock at 10:50 that we need to leave by 11. I had plenty of time to report this to the tourist police but I didn't want to spend my final hour in lovely Chania thinking about this place.
The only good thing is the location as it is 10 min drive from town.
Edit: I don't know how the owner has the impression I'm reviewing negative places in Chania. This is my first and only negative review in Chania and for a reason. My review is here to warn people that are considering to book at this hotel, as the reviews seem to be fake and do not reflect the actual view...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at this hotel for five days, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. We did not receive housekeeping service a single time during our stay. The only time we were offered fresh towels was on our final night, when the housekeeper happened to knock on our door to empty the garbage and noticed we were inside — she kindly asked if we wanted new towels. Reception was rarely available or helpful. Although the website mentioned a shuttle service, when we tried to book it, we were told our flight was too early (6 a.m.) and that no shuttle was available. We then asked if they could arrange a taxi to take us at least to the bus station, but the receptionist claimed no one would drive us at that hour. Sleep was also a challenge due to constant noise at night, particularly dogs barking throughout the night. While I love dogs, it was frustrating trying to get proper rest. Additionally, the front desk was disorganized. The receptionist completely forgot that I had already provided my passport information and paid the tourist tax the day before, and tried to charge me a second time. To top it all off, the property was noticeably dirty — even the main hallways seemed like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. All in all, we were very disappointed with the lack of basic service, poor organization, and cleanliness. I would not recommend staying here based on...
Read moreThis is our second stay here. We arrived after 2 weeks in the South and were welcomed like old friends. The rooms are cleaned to a very high standard and both Anna, the cleaner and Melina, the receptionist, speak pretty good English. They are happy to provide information of all kinds and will print out airline tickets etc. ||The beds are very, very comfortable and huge. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker top that heats quickly and all essential utensils. Excellent water pressure leads to a great shower experience. The owner, Mr George, does all the odd jobs and replaced a broken light fitting in our room immediately.||The area has a number of sandy beaches nearby, we usually walk 7 minutes to the second cove for the softest sand and the safest bathing. The beaches are family friendly and much more extensive - yet quieter -than those nearer town. ||So what is not so good? Barking dogs nearby who set each other off at times. the there are not many restaurants in the vicinity. However, it's an easy walk along the beach path into town where you are spoilt for choice of all types of eateries. There is an excellent bus service within 100 meters. |A huge supermarket nearby is very useful and the small grocery and cafe opposite Ilona is very useful. The views are not great but there are lovely gardens. ||All in all the Ilona is a moderately priced great...
