Our first visit to this part of Crete on a recommendation for Koutoufoulari. After some research we decided on Piskopiano and Frida Village - a good choice! We liked being in the middle of the 3 villages. Frida is a perfect base just down from the main village centre. Big apartment with a sunnyish balcony looking down to the coast. Cleaned with new bedding and towels every few days. Bins emptied every day which was great! Shower looks just like any other Greek shower but OMG it's fab! So powerful and plenty of hot water. ||Two pools, one smaller, much quieter and less used when we were there which we enjoyed a few times. The other one was bigger, very popular but did have Smooth FM playing every day which did get very repetitive! Gorgeous pool to cool off in or a 5€ cold beer from Orla at the pool bar had a similar effect.||Manos was brilliant! First of all on our arrival he came out at midnight to rescue us after the Easyjet bus driver pointed us down the hill in the opposite direction to Frida! Next day he complained to the bus company for the error resulting in us getting a private transfer for our return. (Hats off to the EJ Rep Thanos too who was waiting for us and whisked us through all the queues at the airport to make up for our stressful arrival.) After a day or so and things not really getting cold in our fridge we told Manos it had seen better days and next day he got us a new one! |What a star he is! ||Lots of repeat visitors and it's clear why. Its simple Greek accommodation but looked after very well by lovely, friendly hard working people, including Manos's dad who keeps a close eye on things! ||We would definitely stay again -especially now we know where it is!! Thanks again Manos 😉||PS...lots of lovely eating options but top 2 restaurants for us - Areston-Spanakis, part way down the hill from Frida. Gorgeous liver and Areston salad..and chocolate cake if you're lucky! |In Old Hersonnisos - Harakas in the square ...lovely atmosphere run by local family. Delicious food - and rose wine! - each...
Read moreLovely apartments with fabulous hosts who want you to have the best holiday. Had what we needed for a self catering apartment. Towels changed every other day, bedding every few days. Bathroom small but functional, had an issue with a leak from some of the pipe work but they worked to resolve this as soon as possible. |Pool area nice and well kept, pool bar had a good selection of drinks and ice creams. Food served until 4pm, ideal if you just want something whilst at the pool. Pool table great for families to use, €1 a game. |Well stocked supermarket just across the road, bottled water very cheap and everything else reasonably priced. Short walk up a steep hill to Piskapiano Village, a little bit further on is koutalafari with more shops/bars/testaurants. |The most lovely restaurant only a minutes walk from the apartment, not even half way up the first hill. It’s a must go to when staying at frida. |Down the hill to hersonissos beach - about a 20/25 minute walk, very steep to come back but a taxi only costs €10 to get back. Went spent 2 days at star beach, lovely beach and water areas for children. Water sports available too. No charge to get in just for your sunbeds and parasol (€19 for 3 beds and a parasol). The taxi ride cost us €20 each way - that was for a large people carrier as there were 7 of us. |We would return to frida but we like to try...
