You get what you pay for! This hotel was fair enough considering the price, we were only looking for a place to sleep so let’s start with the positives. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the port and easy to get into the centre of the city, the staff are friendly and the hotel is secure. However, the main complaint we have is that the mattresses at this hotel are genuinely unbearable- we stayed for three nights and we did not have a good night sleep on any of them. They are not just as hard as concrete, you can also feel the springs as they stick up into you. We both woke up aching and of course tired from horrible nights - obviously not ideal when you are trying to travel and make the most of Heraklion. The early mornings, from 5am are very loud - admittedly, we were next door to the cleaning cupboard so that is somewhat expected but we also heard shouting as the cleaners communicate by yelling at eachother between floors! It was extremely noisy and added to poor sleeping conditions. The road the hotel is on is also away from the main road, and at night is not lit. We are two young girls so this was a downside for us but it may not bother you. The room is small but this didn’t bother us, the shower also had no hot water so not ideal but it is okay for a few nights! Overall, this is a budget hotel, however- on our island hopping trip we have stayed in many lovely hotels for the same price point so this was disappointing. If you have a ferry to catch, one night here is all I’d recommend. However, three nights was too much and somewhat ruined our experience in Heraklion. As said before, the owners were lovely so I do not write this negative review with pleasure, but it was unfortunately a very...
Read moreEven one star is too much for this hotel. The rooms were so dirty, there were trash in the rooms and the beds were used. We got in our room and saw that the beds were used, there were literally many body hair overall the bed. We went back to reception to tell them nicely. The woman was so unfriendly, she sweared us in greek, said “malakas …” which means “jerks” then continued in english “no problem, the rooms are clean but we change anyways, i give you a better room” then she gave us a worse room, which was stinky and the beds were even worse than the first one. We just headed up there to sleep a bit before our flight, we read the comments and we knew it was not the best hotel but didn’t know it was the worst. Pay few euros more to sleep at somewhere better. Because you won’t even be able to sleep in your room. We were hearing everything from the next rooms. I definitely don’t...
Read moreThe only thing in its favor is proximity to the ferries. But after an hour trying to locate this place coming from the bus station going up and down hills in the heat - not easy at an elderly 75. Hint: Pronounce it Pacify. the front desk man (owner?) claimed we had no reservation though we showed confirmation to him on the phone. He seemed to delight with a smirk in telling us we didn't and we had even prepaid! Finally got into the cramped room and had a hard time with the air con - and no blanket provided. Could feel the coils beneath the thin top mattress. Only one restaurant nearby and thankfully, it was excellent with a view. And thankfully it was only one miserable,...
