Gorgona means mermaid - and a most appropriate name too - we were certainly in touch with the sea with our room anyway. If you like falling asleep to the gentle sound of the sea then this is for you. Lovely well kept and organised pretty rooms on top of the long, golden sand, beach and sea. Very clean and very quiet ( nb we traveled during the later phase of Corvid restrictions ) Owned by a very helpful couple who gave us lots of worthwhile tips. eg boat trips from the nearby English owned Meltemi Watersports. The breakfast was great ; very healthy and wholesome. Her “Bougatsa” is to die for! So too the apricots off their trees. Thank goodness; no greasy English breakfast in sight! Next door was Drakos, the top fish taverna on Ios. A less expensive version is Akrogiali in the Port, easily reached by the hourly bus service at 1.60 e. Or try the nearby Italian pizzas. Both recommended by our hosts. So too a visit to the main town. So pretty. We miss Gorgona and Im sure we will return sooner than later. Next time we will rent a quad bike from nearby Costa Cars and go...
Read moreThis hotel is right at the edge of Mylopatos beach. As mentioned by previous reviewers, the owners are lovely people who who put so much care into this family owned gem! We stayed 6 days here and while IOS is a bit of a party place for my liking, the hotel & it’s amenities are more than what I expected. There is wifi, very clean, dish cloth changed every day, mini fridge, kettle, dishes. The sheets were crisp & white, towels changed daily, air conditioning etc. The view was breathtaking & every room has its open patio area where you can sit & enjoy at your leisure or walk to the beach which is a hop away (right on the beach). This was a family trip (3 adults & 1 teenager). The beach is busy with a very young crowd. Buses very frequent, right in front of the hotel which can take you to the port or the town of Chora which is about 10 minutes away. Gorgona is located walking distance to all the rustic restaurants, many to choose from. You can get authentic Italian to Mexican. I would highly recommend this...
Read moreAmazing location! I could not get over the view of Mylopotas beach from my room. The hotel is located at the end of the beach right on the sand. Incredible experience of waking up and walking to the water 🩵 Breakfast was really nice and the outside seating area is so relaxing. All staff were very friendly, room was clean and pretty spacious. I only stayed for two nights but staff came in to tidy it up and change towels which was nice. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! FarOut beach club is located 3 minutes walk from here so you can definitely hear the music for those that don’t really like noise. But the club closes at 10-11pm and that area gets pretty quiet after that. Bus stop is a minute walk away which was perfect as a solo traveller that didn’t hire a car. And it costs €2 to get from the port to the last stop...
