Salt Restaurant Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Ios

I have been coming to Ios for a few years now and Salt is always on my list to visit. Sometimes twice. The food here is exceptional as is the service. They also make the best cocktail I have ever had - The Spicy Señorita. It is a covered outdoor restaurant decorated in shades of the beach-sand it looks out over. Everything about the décor is gentle, cool and welcoming.

Their grilled prawn, avocado purée and melon gazpacho starter I have had many times and even tried to recreate at home.

The burgers are probably the best I have ever eaten, brioche bun with bacon and cheese and delicious home-made fries from real potatoes, not frozen processed ‘stuff’.

The seafood calamarata pasta is gorgeous with a tasty broth, as is the slow-cooked beef with orzo. Their flatbreads are so flavoursome and a great snack during the heat of the day.

It is really worth mentioning the service. The waiters and staff here are responsive, professional and very friendly. They are a credit to the place. They make an already delicious dining experience such a pleasure. Highly recommend a visit.

It has been many years since I have been in such a marvellous restaurant in a major Greek island, where service, atmosphere and food were all 5*! The decoration is of such a great taste, congratulations to those who decided to leave so much space between tables, so even when the restaurant is full (I visited on the 16th of August, anyone who has been to Greece during summer knows what that means), it offers guests a relaxed feeling of a specious places, designed to offer a great time, not make more money. Music is very carefully chosen and both relates perfectly with what you see and feel, while enhances the qualitative experience and positive aftertaste. Very tasty food with a very nice beach view..

However horrible service, I sat for 10 mins without being served, acknowledged or not even given a menu. After 10 mins i went to the bar to ask where can I order food? He asked if its takeaway? I said no, im sitting here. He responded by saying take a seat someone will come. I responded by saying I've been waiting 10 mins, and the waiter rolled his eyes and walked away. After finally being served it was hard to get a waiter attention to ask for anything. I then asked for the bill after finishing the food and the bill took 10 mins to get the bill.

Btw the place was fairly quiet so it was not understable for the very slow service.

Service to me is more important than food if i was to consider returning to a place.
