Mare Blu Ios — Hotel in Municipality of Ios

My husband-and-I stayed here for 3 nights. Honestly, it’s what you would expect a 2-star hotel to be. When we first arrived, we got placed in the wrong room because of a miscommunication (the owners don’t really speak English, which is surprising since Ios has mostly international tourists). Our actual room was a 3-bed room because we like the extra space. It was TINY. The bathroom was also small but the worst part of it was the shower. I was born in Europe, so I’m used to showers without curtains, but this one didn’t even have enough of a separation between the shower and the floor, which led to a lot of water ending up on the floor – it made me not even want to shower there. Also, I found quite a few spiders in the room. Additionally, there are not separate balconies so if you want to dry your bathing suite, you have to dry it in on the common patio. I had a wonderful stay at this family run hotel and was genuinely impressed by the overall experience. The Mare Blue staff were always kind, attentive, and accommodated all our requests. The WiFi was steady and fast, which is not always the case on many hotels. Hot water was available 24/7, with steady and strong water pressure — something I found to be much better here compared to other islands I’ve visited, where it can often be inconsistent. Bathroom included all toiletries i.e. shower gel, hair shampoo, soap etc. Overall a great stay and I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay...
