Things we like ✅| ●Location is great! 20 minute walk from the harbour, right opposite the marina, close to Old Town and 5 minutes if that to paradise beach. | ●Fabulous breakfast. Lots to choose from. During our stay (1 week), this diminished every day. By the last day, it was very poor. No coffee, no juice, lacking in bread, eggs and jams. Condiments were often empty. When asked why and for more, the male older member of staff just said 'it is cheap, it is finished'. | ●Free air con. However, room gets VERY warm as there is no window. Guess this is why air con is included. | ●Acceptable for a short stay. ||Things we don't like ❌| ●Cleaning is poor. 4 squashed and dead mosquitos on the bathroom wall when we arrived. | ●Balcony very dirty. Covered in soot from the cars below. Never cleaned. I used a towel to clean this and it was filthy. Images attached. | ●Room is VERY warm as there is no window. Thank goodness though for free air con! | ●Very uncomfortable mattress. No bed Protectors and it isn't a proper mattress so a weeks stay was a challenge! | ●Being watched and followed when taking breakfast items. Staff ate horrendous. | ●THE rudest staff members ever. So called managers never smile, never greet you and go out of their way to be nasty. Never greeted, never smiled. Never said good morning. Followed us around during breakfast. Grunting, miserable and incredibly unhelpful. | ●No toiletries. Not even hand soap. | ●No new loo roll given to us during our stay. Had to ask and when asked, the complained about staff member was very rude indeed. | ●Towels small and meagre. | ●Bathroom drain did not function properly so the floor was always drenched for hours after a shower. | ●Pressure and temperature hit and miss. | ●Got a blanket as was cold during the stay, on our penultimate night, the cleaner came in, didn't clean the room but took away the blanket!? | ●Downstairs toilets often without loo roll and very dirty. Like a forgotten space! Sink full of sand and dirt. | ●Fridge turns off when card no in slot and when you are out so everything gets warm, the room gets VERY warm and it takes a while for the fridge to power up and get cold again. ||Suggestions| ●Read the reviews! The most recent ones are VERY poor. | ●Train/hire new staff. | ●Renovate the bathroom. | ●CLEAN! | ●Hire an English speaking member of staff. A friendly one ideally. ||I have made a formal complaint to Booking.com about the male 'manager' here and...

I stayed at Kos Bay Hotel for one week and overall, I found it to be simple but functional – a decent choice for travelers who mainly want a place to sleep and spend most of their time exploring the island.

Location – 4/5 The location was great for me: about a 20-minute walk to Kos town, with restaurants and the bar street easily accessible on foot. There are several small supermarkets nearby, plus a beach and a small shopping center within walking distance. A big plus (and also a downside) is the main road in front of the hotel. It gets quite loud in the evenings due to traffic, so it’s better suited for people who sleep with the balcony door closed and use the air conditioning – which worked very well in our room. On the positive side, parking was easy and the main road makes it convenient to reach different parts of the island by car. One thing to note: there is a prison within about 100 meters. It looked very secure and didn’t cause any problems during our stay, but it might be worth mentioning for some travelers.

Room – 4/5 The room was basic but clean and had everything we needed: • Strong air conditioning • Decent fridge with a small freezer compartment • Wi-Fi could be better, but was fine for most things • Only one power outlet near the bed, which was inconvenient • The shower was extremely small, although it was high enaugh, and the water pressure and temperature fluctuated a lot • The chairs on the balcony were very uncomfortable to sit on for long periods

We didn’t use the safe, but we left valuables like an iPad and cash in the room all week without any issues. The room isn’t stylish or modern, but if you’re spending most of the day out and about, it does the job.

Breakfast – 2/5 Breakfast was included, but the selection was very limited. There were basic bread rolls, one type of ham and cheese, jam, honey, some boiled eggs (inconsistently cooked), cake, and yogurt with canned peaches. There was also some muesli. The coffee was okay, but the juice didn’t taste good at all. Overall, very minimal and not particularly Greek.

Service Cleaning staff were friendly and did a good job. Reception was helpful and answered all our questions kindly.

Other There is no pool and no hotel bar, at least not that we saw.

Conclusion – 4/5 overall Kos Bay Hotel is a good option for active travelers. It’s clean, well located, and affordable, but not ideal if you’re looking for a quiet place or modern amenities. I’d recommend it for people who plan to explore the island and just need a...

After reading the reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’d say many of them are either exaggerated or people simply expect too much from a two-star hotel. The room was always clean, breakfast did its job (nothing special but enough to start the day), and the staff was generally helpful – though it’s true they could be a bit friendlier.

Hotel:
The hotel is older, but everything worked fine. The location is okay, but if you plan to go to Kos Town daily, you’ll probably need a bike or some other transport, as it’s about a 20–30 minute walk. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is right next to a busy road with traffic lights, so cars and buses are constantly stopping and going. It can be inconvenient, but since this is well-known in advance, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Despite having a room close to the reception, the WiFi wasn’t always reliable. The description also mentioned a bar, but I only noticed a fridge at the reception with water, beer, and some soft drinks for sale.

Room:
I stayed alone and had to pay extra for the second bed, but honestly, I can’t imagine two people sharing it – it felt more like one and a half than a double bed. The room itself was very small, so having two large suitcases would be difficult as there was hardly any space to store them. My room was right next to the reception, so I could hear people arriving at night, breakfast noise in the morning, and even the TV from the common area in the evening. It didn’t bother me enough to complain, but I can see how it might disturb others. Since the room was on the ground floor, it would have been nice to have net curtains – otherwise, you either had the blackout curtains fully closed, or everyone could see inside. On the positive side, cleaning was done daily, the AC worked perfectly, and you can borrow a hairdryer from reception if needed.

Beach:
Several beaches are within a 5–10 minute walk, but I’d recommend going a bit further if you want nicer ones.

Overall, for the price it was fine as a place to sleep, but not really somewhere to spend much free time – so next time I would probably choose a...

It’s a real shame that this hotel gets such negative reviews as for the price it was good, the rooms are clean, shower is great but the bed unfortunately is really uncomfortable, the breakfast isn’t great either as there is very little choice 1 type of cheese, 1 type of cheap ham, olives, bread, plain yoghurt, peaches out of a tin, all I think it needs is a little TLC, pleasant friendly happy approachable reception staff, the two ladies who sort out breakfast, clean the rooms / rest of the hotel are really lovely friendly & helpful the young man who works in the afternoon/ evening is helpful friendly approachable, same with the gentleman on the night shift, but as for the rest I never saw them smile once, I didn’t feel I could ask them anything, but the biggest problem is the old person (that works all day)he is rude, unapproachable, very aggressive, he accuses you of doing things that you haven’t done, he does not listen, understand, I feel all he is interested in is money,
