There are a hell of a lot of things to talk about in this review. First off, in no way should this be a 4-star hotel - at MOST a 2.5-star. ||When my family and I arrived at the resort, we were greeted to a kind reception lady, which we were thankful for. After a long wait in the bar, She gave us our room keys, gave us the direction of our rooms, and sent us on our own little scavenger hunt.||The staff were generally very friendly - or atleast to me and my family, judging from other reviews, and they aren’t to be blamed for whatever the hotel has going on. They are simply just trying to get paid.| |When me and my brother arrived to our room (245), we were instantly greeted by not only a lack of WiFi, but also one single bed and one double bed (which we argued over). The closet is in no way big enough for two people, either. They advertise their rooms as having Free WiFi, but when me and my brother went to the reception about the WiFi issues, we were simply told that there is “too many people on the WiFi”, but the issue was that the WiFi didn’t reach the room. We had to use a chair, on the outside of the room door, to access the WiFi, and we got rations of it in the bathroom.||The TVs don’t have any English channels unless you tweak the channel list, and doing so means it is likely to malfunction. My poor brother was watching the American CNN News Channel for about 6 days straight.||The bathroom shower has barriers so low is may aswell be a wetroom, and it floods easily enough to be a hazard. The showers are absolute drama queens, with a one degree turn being the deciding factor of whether or not you’re being boiled alive, or getting frostbite. The showerhead also seems to.. lose control. ||The drawers in the vanity are stiff and don’t come out properly - and that’s enough said. There is water stains inside the drawer.||As mentioned in other reviews, my brother suffered from an ant infestation in his bed. I personally think this is disgusting, and when we asked reception, they said it was “normal”. They were everywhere!! All over the floor, in his bed, even in the closet!! ||There are about 4 pools scattered across the resort, however the one that we chose to use was the 130cm deep one, just across the mini-road from our room. The pool is decent, although not well-kept at all. I managed to start a collection of pool tiles that I’d found loose on the floor of the pool (which are sharp, by the way!) My stepdad and I often had to use our shoes to fish out bugs, especially wasps, from the pool, because it is not cleaned daily. Not sure if that’s because it’s not the hotel’s main pool (the 140cm deep pool by the restaurant) or because they just don’t care. The sign by the pool states that in case of an emergency, to go to the reception that’s across the road - which would really help in a matter of urgency, when someone’s drowning! Especially as there is no lifeguard on duty! Overall, the “non-main” pools, if you will, are generally quite quiet, which can be pleasant.||Now for the food.. |When my family and I went to dinner on the first night of our 8-day stay, we were immediately met with what would be our life. The only good thing that I can say about the food is the cakes (only the ones served with the main food, NOT the bar ones), the spaghetti (though it is cold) and the chips. Everything else, I’d rather get food poisoning than ever eat again. And I don’t doubt that the staff are aware of the poor quality of their food, especially considering the consistent amount of food left over on the plates, and the staff’s disappointed faces as they see how much of their hard work had been wasted. I do almost feel bad for them, because they can’t do a lot about it, but that’s just how it is, I guess. My family and I ended up going to different restaurants around, which is disappointing considering it was supposed to be all-inclusive, but I guess we didn’t want to be included.. |The restaurants surrounding the hotel, even the ones down by the beach and in the main town of Kassiópi, we even aware at how bad the food was, because so many people who had come to their restaurants had told them! I think that says a lot.||The pool-side bar is my no means bad, with a friendly bartender and good drink availability. I would get my usual of Malibu & Coke, with the rest of my family getting Vodka & Lemonades. The drinks were pretty good, the only con I could think of would probably be that after 11:00pm, all drinks are paid (what happened to ALL-inclusive?). Although, the pool-side bar food is shockingly awful. The mini sandwhiches? Stale, dry within an inch of their life even. The donut-looking biscuits? Could probably kill your first-born. Etc.||The toilets..|By the main pool, there’s a set of stairs you can go down that lead you to two public bathrooms, each containing a large mirror, a shower, and a toilet - all with no locks! Have fun flashing anyone who’s trying to have a wee at the same time as you!|In the restaurant, there’s an eerie set os stairs juuust by the entrance, that could compete with Wetherspoons. After a mile’s downhill hike, you’ve finally reached the bathrooms! Despite the cursed feeling, accompanied by two empty dinner tables, those toilets have locks (if I can remember correctly).|||Outside the restaurant, there’s two stray cats. One a brown one, who is generally friendly and sociable - but is agitated easily, so be careful. One is a white cat with grey tabby patches, who is somewhat aggressive, and doesn’t like to be touched. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but simply a pointer for anyone who willingly decides to stay here. Both cats are shown in the photos provided.||A taxi to or from Kassiópi from the reception is 6 euro, which isn’t a bad price to pay. Although, the reception didn’t tell us which way the town was, and We ended up walking down to the beach. (For anyone reading this - when you’re at the shop, to the left is the beach and to the right is the way to the town.) The walk to the town is actually very scenic! ||To sum it up, it’s in your best interest to find another hotel to stay at - unless you enjoy no WiFi, ants in your bed, and shocking food. What I will say, the few good things I got out of the trip would probably be a lot of new stray cats as friends, a pretty good tan, and some pretty good Malibu & Cokes. But you could get that almost anywhere else!||Places I recommended you visit if you choose to stay: Kassiópi main town and harbour, Kassiópi Castle, The...
Read moreMy Daughter and I have just returned from a 5 night holiday at the Michelangelo Resort and we wish we were still there.|We chose this hotel as it we were looking for a relaxing break but not too quiet and that was what we got. We read the reviews and although it classes itself as a 4, Easyjet Holidays rated it as a 3 so we didn't expect anything more. Although, I would say the friendliness we received was 5|We had a lovely room overlooking the Tortoises which was an added bonus. The room was spacious with a double and single bed for us. The room may have been a little outdated but it was cleaned to a high standard with fresh towels and bedding changed 3 times during our 5 night stay. The room also had AC and a small fridge. On our last day we didn't need to leave the hotel until 7pm so we asked at Reception if it was possible to keep our room later, and to our surprise we were able to keep the room until 6pm for just 30 euros. (please note that recpetion only wanted cash for the tourist tax and for our late check out) There is an atm just a 3 min walk up the road if you need any cash during your stay.||On two of our evenings we took the walk into Kassiopi Town after dinner. It only took us 10 mins. Once on the main road there is a pavement all the way. The town is lovely with many shops, cafes and bars. It has a picturesque harbour with views of the Albanian coast in the distance. On both evenings we ended up in Illusions Bar (not to be confused with Illusions Kitchen Bar, although that did look like a lovely place to eat overlooking the harbour)|Illusions bar was lively with a variety of sports chanels being shown. They had quizzes and Karaoke nightly and plenty of dancing. The staff were friendly and it's open till late. Definitely a bar for all the family.||In the write up of the hotel it mentioned entertainment and listed several sports available but it did not mention that there would be 2 resident entertainment guys, Rodrigo and Jodi (Hello :) ) who laid on activities 6 days a week ranging from Yoga, Aqua aerobics, Water Polo,Water Vollyeball, Table Tennis, Boules, Darts etc. They are a credit to the hotel and got you up participating in the activities but left you alone if you just wanted to relax. Music was played at the main pool but you could choose one of the smaller pools if you wanted to relax in peace and quiet. They also held a mini disco for the little ones in the evening and then held Quiz nights, Karaoke, BIngo by the pool later. They deinitely made our stay more enjoyable!|Christos behind the bar and all the restaurant staff were polite and friendly and worked really hard all day.|The food in the buffet restaurant was fine, a little repetitive but we always found somthing we liked, again we had not paid for a 5 hotel.|A special mention has to go out to the young lady who made all of the desserts for lunch and dinner, they were delicious. Very talented.|At lunch time we mainly chose to eat from the snack bar rather than the restaurant. On offer was either sandwiches or rolls, Watermelon and something hot like pizza along with Ice cream. We found this suited us better than going in to eat as you could eat it by your sunbed. |Talking of Sunbeds, there was no silly mad dash of a morning to put your towel out. Always one available ( August could be different)|Sad to be home now, we wish we...
Read moreIt is pot luck if you get a decent room or not, we had 3 groups stay there all with completely different style rooms, our first room in the complex across the road up the steep hill the french doors didn't lock and wasn't secure, told reception and they said they will sort it but that night we had a drunk man burst through them in the middle of the night so we asked to be moved, room was small for 2 adults and 1 child, just a box room that was dated and miserable, 2nd room was better which overlooked the swimming pool which is at the side of reception, cleaners are not cleaners they are just bin emptiers, they didn't even sweep up once in 11 days, food was absolutely shocking, meat was terrible along with every other dish which was very minimal around 10 luke warm dishes to choose from, the faces people pulled when looking at the food was comical, especially when the restaurant manager seen it countless times daily, anyone who says this food was good must have come straight from hmp Nottingham, the drinks were bearable for only a few days, we had to eat out mostly and between 2 adults and 1 child must have spent a extra 1200€ on food alone, one of our group reported a hazardous issue with their room which was never rectified, our second room had no hot water and was only fixed after 1 week and plenty of pestering reception, i had to shower at the pool side daily as that was warmer, the entertainment is none existent just a woman playing music from youtube, they did have a greak night one night but all they did were play greek music that got too much after 1 hour. We are not fussy people at all but paying the same for this holiday as our last one at star beach hersonissos there is no comparison, yes this hotel would be acceptable for £500pp but not for £1000 and it is definitely not a 4 star I'd say not even a 2. I dont know if they let standards slip towards the end of the season but either way it was not good for many reasons. Also if you want any form of entertainment or something for the kids to do then this hotel and kassiopi definitely is not the place for you, if you just want a quiet meal every night with a few quiet drinks after in restaurants without any atmosphere then crack otherwise go Sidari which is still a little shabby, dont get me wrong kassiopi is nice but only for a few nights not 11, all of the north of corfu is disappointing compared to Zante, Crete, Cyprus etc, we wont be returning to corfu and fingers crossed we never get a hotel like...
