Arrived here on a Sunday evening after a long day travelling and waiting in Piraeus in the blistering heat and oh my what a nice surprise! Firstly there was a family christening party at the hotel when we got there and it was absolutely buzzing in there and we were welcomed and invited to join the party if we wanted, there was also a bottle of wine in our room inviting us to join them which I thought was a lovely gesture but please note this is not what this place is usually like it was a one off event so I'm not sure if they give bottles of wine to all visitors and the place is usually quite calm and quiet at that time but there was a party on which gave me a buzz that overtook the tiredness of the day. We had a one bedroom apartment at the back right as you look at it (c11) and it was probably the best room I've ever had anywhere I've been even with a few minor issues. |The rooms and balcony were spacious with another little balcony in the bedroom but the main one connected to the living room was big and quite secluded where we were facing the the plants and grounds which again where absolutely beautiful you could smell the flowers but you could see the sea if you looked right, other rooms be completely different but I personally liked the secludedness of our room whilst still being able to look over the water. The bed was the comfiest I've ever had in a hotel nevermind Greece where beds are notoriously firm these beds where big not sure what size but much bigger than our double at home and so comfortable and soft due to having a mattress topper on which really made a difference. Bathroom was good quite small but nice with walk in shower and fast flowing water from taps and shower also a good toilet that flushed powerful another thing better than most places I've stayed especially in Greece. Living room was nice with a comfortable sofa and a TV, fridge, wardrobe and drawers.|As mentioned the tv was in the living room and not in the bedroom which was strange but I could understand it and didn't mind it although there was a few shows in English on at night I'd have liked to have watched in bed but it wasn't a big deal.|Aircon was included and was really good at keeping the rooms nice and cool especially the bedroom where it would get so cool I loved snuggling under the bedding which again was very nice. The only issue which I hope they resolve is the units that remove the warm air on the balcony had leaks and whilst they had a box to catch the leaking water these would fill up quickly especially if Aircon was on for a prolonged period so that was my one gripe with the room but not enough to change my experience.|Breakfast was again one of the best I've ever had anywhere so much choice I would have different things every day because I couldn't possibly eat everything I liked so many sweet and savoury options as well as bacon, eggs and little sausages even my coeliac mum managed to get something every day even though there was a lot she couldn't have there was still enough for her.|Only had one pool day and I have to say it was perfect plenty of beds for sun bathing and the pool was lovely and clean and deep too I'm 6ft 2 and could only stand in the middle. Also beautiful views over the bay. |Location is perfect left 2 mins the best cafe on the island and little further Kanali beach and Poros town is walking distance, 2 mins right and another lovely restaurant the white cat and another 5 minutes to the better neiro beach. Lots of other places easily accessible from here and taxis are cheap only €5 one-way pretty much anywhere.|Another new experience was having the Greek navy training nearby which you would hear singing the national anthem every morning and as a proud half Greek this made me feel very happy and proud.|I could go on and on about this place but I have to mention the lovely staff especially Maria and Georgia and her sister (sorry forgot her name) they were so lovely and could not do enough for you absolutely wonderful people I really hope to meet again as I really want to return after such a wonderful experience. Thank you so much Niki's see you soon your Greek Englishman...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this beautiful small island of Poros and Niki's Village was perfect for us in every way. Arrived by ferry to the stunning port of Poros from Piraeus in just over an hour, hopped in a taxi to Niki's village taking about 10 minutes which was only 5euro! ||Friendly welcome, given a large bottle of water and shown to a nice room with a fabulous view over the pool and sea with a large balcony. Don't expect 5* facilities, this is a small family run hotel which has immaculate rooms, with tidy gardens, a decent sized pool and the best breakfast with freshly cooked breads, pastries, crumble (!!), fruits, yoghurts, local meats, cheeses and olives. No issues with sunbeds (unfortunately no big fat mattresses but hey, you can't have everything!) and the towels are a big rough but honestly, it's no big deal. The beach is around a 10/15 minute walk away but plenty of other beaches if you have a quad bike or get a taxi.||If you're looking for that traditional Greek taverna by the waters edge, then literally 5 minutes walk is Aura Cafe Bar - perfect for sunset cocktails or a morning coffee. ||A good 20 minute walk brings you to plenty of tavernas, bars, shops and some exquisite yachts on the waterfront! From here you can also catch the ferry to Hydra which takes around 40 minutes (great for a day trip; a small island). We also hired a quad bike to do some exploring - beware the roads are pretty steep in areas. There was also a great free bus which runs around the town! Really handy.||Poros is not catering for the mass markets, it's traditional, has a wonderful charm and I would re-visit again in a heartbeat and I'd 100% recommend Niki's Village if you're wanting excellent Greek hospitality in a...
Read moreWe made a booking directly in October. Most accommodation seems quite expensive for Greece but was happy to pay as a treat because the reviews were good & it had a pool. We arrived late on a very stormy night and were taken to what I believe to be the worst room in the hotel. We booked a garden view room but when we opened the balcony doors all we saw was a building site. As it was dark and we were tired so we settled down for the night but quickly realised the room wasn't as advertised...it was old but had a new shower room( the only redeeming feature) There was a wardrobe with 4 hangers, no spare pillows, an extremely big hard bed and all the sockets were behind furniture. There was nowhere to plug in the kettle without turning off the fridge & everything felt old and dirty. Wires were hanging down from the TV. Looking out of the balcony in the morning I knew this was not what I was expecting from the pictures on the website...workmen actually woke me up at 7am ...no way could you have a relaxing time on the balcony which was the most disappointing thing. I asked if we could change rooms at reception but was told this was a garden view room. They did offer to upgrade us but at another 20 euro a night. As we were travelling around Greece for 4 weeks this was out of our budget We decided to leave. I am sorry to leave this review as some rooms look nice and I think if you are willing to pay a lot you could get one of these but if you book a garden view room beware you could be overlooking the municipal building site and may get a very old...
