Meltemi Coast suites — Hotel in Municipality of Rethymnon

Most horrible experience ever, don't book it based on their fake photos and fake advertisements on booking platforms!

They say I am lying but the photos I attached proves all my points so please be careful and inform you before booking!

Conclusion: Worst place we ever stayed so far, couldn't sleep more than 2-3h per night even by using earplugs, I wouldn't make this mistake a second time, we had a totally horrible stay here and wouldn't recommend at all.

Below is the detailed list of pros and cons.

Pros: -location was acceptable, near the beach but right on the busy street, you can hear all the noise from the restaurant below and the gym above -cleaning services were good, the cleaning ladies even washed for us a few dishes we forgot about in the sink -wifi acceptable, was still doing us problems sometimes but not very often, sometimes you can even have signal from it on the beach

Cons: -fake advertisement on the apartment booking page, they added photos from their best apartment and gave us their worst, which is totally different from what booked, when confronted they said they don't specify which apartment you get so this is what we booked -no reception to handle the issues we had, they just communicate via messages so they can ignore your requests if they want, bad attitude towards the clients -no flexibility on the checking hours, they put the key for us at 15:00 even if we informed them we would be arriving earlier, we had to wait 5 hours on the beach and keep on trying the lock to see if they put or not the key for us -they hid the fact that above all apartments on 1st floor there is a big gym, the entire 2nd floor is a gym where from 5am and up to 11pm you hear all the weights drops on the floor, under the bedroom there are the running treadmill and the bicycles, now imagine hearing all those steps all day and almost all night at a constant rate, just horrible -very noisy, the balcony windows seals were broken and we could hear every single noise from the cars passing by plus from the below restaurant which is open up to 11pm at night -on the terrace/balcony we had 2 air conditioning units that weren't for us, so you couldn't control them, probably they are from the gym or another apartment, they went on and on all day long, and you couldn't actually use the balcony to have a relaxing time drinking a coffee or tea -you can't use the terrace/balcony when it is raining as it is not covered at all -shower didn't have a support for shower head so you can't actually do a proper shower since you need to have one hand occupied with keeping the shower head -there are also a lot of other small problems so just skip this one and don't fall for their fake...

Great location, walkable to the main town, close to the beach (across the road), we had corner apartment on the 1st floor, huge balcony. Parking nearby as we had car for 2 weeks (our whole stay), supermarket just round the corner, bakery (open from 6am!!!)up the road, fresh bread, pastry, plenty of good value eateries everywhere. Due to the apparent virus situation we decided for self catering first time. We loved it and I think we will stick to it as you can feel more free. We drove a lot, visited many places, not sure if we would like to stay in one spot for many days. We like to explore so this was a perfect base for us. While in Rethymno there is plenty to do. I reckon in a normal circumstances this strip to old town would have been full of people. Anyways, weather spot on, good communication with property management. We had a great time. Hope we will see Kreta again. Next year...

Avoid if you value peace, rest, and basic service

We received no check-in information before arrival. When we showed up, the reception was closed, no one answered the phone, and we were left standing outside with no way in. Luckily, some other guests happened to be around and helped us get access. That is not how a stay should begin.

The apartment itself was of okay standard – nothing special, but fine for the price. However, the entire experience was overshadowed by unbearable noise: extremely loud ventilation fans ran from 09:00 in the morning until around 01:00 at night, shaking the bed and making it impossible to relax or sleep while they were on.

Bathroom cleaning only happened once during our 8-day stay. We received fresh towels once without asking, but had to request them the other times.
