Lissus Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Rethymnon

After a long travel by plane and bus over to Rethymno, we found ourselves extremely hungry wandering the boardwalk on our first evening and randomly stumbled across Lissus. After that first night, it became our go-to restaurant and we ate there maybe every other evening, for dinner time!

I think the best part about this restaurant has to be the service, with incredibly nice and friendly staff always making sure you're having a good time. My boyfriend and I ordered a bottle of wine the first night and ever since then they remembered and always asked if they should bring our bottle of wine out. Or, if they saw us on the boardwalk the following day, they always waved and smiled. It's the little details like those that made us enjoy coming back there all the more.

The food is fresh, especially the seafood and fish. I had the sea bass, lasagna and calamri while my boyfriend had the chicken gyros, special pizza and chicken fillet a'la creme. We also shared the spinach pies and garlic bread with cheese as starters. All of it was full of authentic flavours and overall delicious.

It's a great place to enjoy lunch, dinner, or even just drinks, as their cocktail and wine prices are more than reasonable. We already told them that we'll be sure to visit them next year!

P.S.: On our last night in Rethymno, before our flight home, they half jokingly promised us to pop the Champagne if we get engaged at their restaurant next time. ☺️ Absolutely brilliant people with a great sense of humor and a very friendly attitude!

The food was good. The dessert on the house was also good and a very nice touch. However, when the waiters ask you the minute they take your order about how do you intend to pay (cash or card), something seems off. We paid by card and, when we asked for the check, the waiter came with only the POS and the total already inserted. We did not see a physical piece of paper to see what we paid for. When we left a tip, the waiter's attitude changed, they were suddenly friendlier and all smiles. Except for this strange part, the experience was good. Happy we found this place, wonderful location next to the beach the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere very light and relaxing matching the beach vibes with pretty plants. The owner/manager was very kind and funny, cracking some jokes. We stopped for a pizza before our drive to Chania, pizza was good the large is actually large and is good for sharing. At the end we were given a free dessert which was lovely and topped the experience off, we were already having a good one. Prices are affordable, as mentioned above happy I found this place and don't have anything negative to say really. Would recommend...
