Petalo Suites — Hotel in Municipality of Rethymnon

I would like to give this place a zero out of five but that’s not possible. While I was in Rethmyno, I received a call from this hotel at 11pm. They said they were concerned that we were not at their hotel yet. Confused, I asked them how they got my information and they said we had a room booked. I looked through my email to find a request I had sent months before for a room, but had never heard back. When I requested a room months earlier, I filled out a form on their website. It ask for the basic hotel questions, and also for my credit card information, which I thought to be unusual as I have never had to put my credit card information out on the internet before I have a room guaranteed. Their website stated that they would contact us if they have availability after filling out the form. I reported this miscommunication, as they failed to notify me that they had availability and therefore I was unaware I had this booking. They did not charge my credit card until the day before my booking, so I had no way to know about this reservation. They were extraordinary rude and manipulating. They forced me to pay the very expensive bill for this hotel that I never stayed at. The receptionists and the host were ignoring my emails and calls, blaming the whole issue on me. They never contacted us about this booking until 11pm the night of check in. They took our credit card information and charged the rooms on it. This is the worst I have ever been treated by a hotel. They will not admit to their own fault and now I am being charged for a hotel I never stayed at or confirmed a reservation for. We were treated awfully and they took our credit card information and held it over us. We just received the charges for the hotel, proving that they knew we never confirmed and were not aware of this booking, but charged us anyway in order to take our money. This experience spoiled our trip and I hope this never happens to anyone else.

In reply to Petalo Studios, First of all, I still have never received the confirmation email. We never heard back from this hotel until the night of the so called “reservation” when they called me through WhatsApp during my dinner. They refused to forward or show me the actual email they said they sent. I don’t know what hotel leaves an open end like this if we never confirmed our reservation. I continue to believe this was fraudulent and I do not want this to happen to...

What a beautiful surprise

After walking up the 3 stairs with our suitcase - the second what caught our breath was the peaceful atmosphere and than the view.

The host knew we would come in late and there was fruit, cake and bottle of wine to welcome us. The interior was modern with a soft bohemian touch. Everything matched to perfection.

Outside there is a lot of shade (I guess only morning son in summer) and the streets or vibrant and fun but when you close the door you leave the noise outside.

Only downside: our downstairs neighbors were noisy (late at night) and left their dog alone - and when they were gone the dog was constantly barking. But that’s up to those tourists and not the host. (We didn’t say anything)

Terrible Experience – Avoid This Hotel at All Costs!

I have never encountered such unprofessionalism from a hotel in all my years of travel. They charged me for nights I didn’t stay and refused to acknowledge their mistake. Despite my repeated attempts to reach out and resolve the issue, they ignored my messages and never confirmed anything with me.

When I finally got in touch, the staff was incredibly rude and dismissive, showing absolutely no willingness to rectify their error. It’s clear they’re more interested in taking your money than ensuring you can confirm your reservation as you are planning your trip to Rethmyno.

I strongly urge anyone considering staying here to think twice. Save yourself the stress and frustration—there are plenty of better options...
