Stay away from this hotel! This is a warning to Finns and to anyone looking for a safe and respectful vacation experience. We traveled from Finland to spend a week at this hotel, which is completely out of league when it comes to proper hospitality, from July 11th to July 18th.
On the fifth day, we noticed that our sun glasses had gone missing from the room. Then, on the very last day, we discovered that a gold necklace belonging to my partner had also disappeared from the room. We informed the hotel staff immediately, only to be met with a hysterical and hostile reaction from the elderly woman working the morning shift.
She completely denied the possibility of theft and showed zero customer service skills. She even spoke to us in a rude and racist tone, which I was able to translate in real time using Google Translate. Shockingly, she cursed democracy, blaming it for allowing guests like us to “complain.” She acted more like a dictator than a hotel employee and never showed an ounce of empathy for what had happened to us.
At our request, the police were called. They were polite and professional, but due to time constraints and procedures, they asked us to come to the station later to file a formal report. However, as a lawyer and a Finnish citizen, I know that such processes often lead nowhere in foreign jurisdictions. So we chose to leave it behind and enjoy what remained of our trip.
Sadly, after our experience, we found reviews by other guests who also mentioned thefts and missing valuables:
“Some of the cleaners stole our stuff — jewellery, perfume etc. You can’t even trust the cleaners.” — Trip.com guest review, January 2025
“The hotel is not responsible for any stolen items. That’s what they told me when my phone disappeared.” — Guest review on Google, translated from Swedish
“We heard other guests complaining about missing items. Be careful with your belongings.” — Review from Booking.com, summer 2023
These stories were unfortunately similar to ours, and clearly show this is not an isolated incident.
Rhodes is a beautiful island—but this hotel is completely unworthy of its location. We sincerely hope this review helps future travelers avoid the stress and disappointment we faced.
We are considering reporting this incident to the Greek...
Read moreThe hotel itself is okay, but the lazy and incompetent staff makes the stay terrible. But let's start off with the positives; There are pools, 2 children's pools and 2 a bit larger pools. There's an elevator if you live on any floor upstairs. It is located well to the beach and stores, close enough to walk to them but still far enough not to be disturbed by the noise of the streets. There's a playground in the hotel area.
And that's about it, so the negatives; The old lady receptionist is the least service-oriented person I've ever met. She can't keep a number in her head and communicates terribly with the staff. We asked specifically for a baby crib, we didn't get one. We had to contact the travel agency to get one and get the room cleaned properly. The cleaning was horrible. Sticky floors in the room, beds were dirty and spotty, mould everywhere in the bathroom, and the freezer was full of ice, so we had to defrost it our first day to fit ice creams in it. There were electrical hazards, loose outlets, in the room at a baby's height. Not very family-friendly. The shower suddenly turns scorching hot or freezing cold, by itself, not very family friendly. The elevator needs service, sometimes the buttons don't work and you're stuck trying to press them. The pools are poorly kept, they desperately need cleaning, you can't even see your feet in the pool. All your swimming clothes are turned green after a few days, totally ruined. Perhaps should have requested money for our destroyed clothes. There was dog poo in the playground, we told the reception about it and it took 4 days to clean up. Our shower got stuck on the hot water, we told reception at 7pm. At 9pm we told reception it is still running. She acted surprised that it wasn't fixed and told us it's gonna be fixed in 10 min. At 11.30pm we could finally put our 2 year old to bed because they fixed it. The sewer smell is constant by one of the pool areas, tanning beds, and restaurant area. All towels and bedsheets smell of cigarettes, perhaps because staff is always smoking in the corridor next to the laundry room. Not very family friendly. All areas allow smoking, indoors. Not very...
Read moreI was happy to stay in a budget hotel and expected it to be out dated and didn’t mind as it was just a base. The cleaners came every day which I was impressed by so although the room was shabby I knew it was clean! It was a bigger room than I expected as well as the studio for 2 there was a separate double bedroom. The bathroom floor was constantly wet as the shower curtain wasn’t fit for purpose. You had to pay extra for them to switch the air con on so we didn’t bother. My daughter was keen on using the gym equipment and spa. - There was none available as seen in the photos online. The ‘gym’ room was full of builders tools and rubbish. The sauna, jacuzzi and treatment rooms were closed. The pool side bar in photos looked like it’s not been open for years. We were pleasantly surprised to find 2 pools to use and plenty of sunbeds. The staff could be a bit rude, we asked the receptionist to order us a taxi and she made me pay €5 cash to her and told me to pay driver another €20 to the old town, I’m guessing the €5 was just for her to call taxi firm! Once there we realised that the journey should have cost €15. The food in the taverna was very good, we ate there several times and most of the staff were pleasant. There was one older guy who was very rude though and spoilt it for us. He took down our order wrong and when he brought the wrong food he got really angry! (No such thing as customer always right here!) rather than apologising for his mistake and our inconvenience he was muttering and laughing with his colleagues, making a big deal and when I paid and he asked if it was card or cash and I said card, he rolled his eyes and said “of course you’re paying with card” indicating that I was a problem and they all laughed, it was my last day and I had run out of cash, I didn’t want to bring several Hundred euros in cash!! He then had the cheek to point out where to add the tip. He really spoilt it for us. Entertainment in the evening was either non existent or very poor. |Great location, close to the beach and a short walk to lots of bars and restaurants. Very close to airport and old and new towns. Would I gonna k to Rhodes? Yes, would I stay...
