Nimar Hotel
28 room small quirky hotel 2 star situated right alongside a main duel carriageway. The location is not great as you are a 25 minute walk away from the beach, when I say beach don’t get too excited it’s more like Avonmouth with abandoned half completed houses discarded fridges and washing machines concrete waste land with rubbish dumped everywhere. You are one kilometre from the local town Alfondou there are bars and restaurants a plenty. Just along from the hotel is a restaurant called Floral I can totally recommend it. The other restaurants weren’t open as yet. The hotel itself is very clean the staff are lovely and friendly especially Jed and Dimi who greet you and give you the low down. Jed also does the rubbish quiz which was brilliant. The food in the bar is excellent so you don’t have to go out if you don’t want to. The WiFi is excellent both in the bar and in your room. The pool is small but right next to the main duel carriageway so very noisy all day. Our room was 305 I have taken a few photos the bed is like cardboard quite possibly the most uncomfortable I have ever been in. Notice I didn’t say sleep that’s because there isn’t much chance of that due to the annoying dog barking and worse the cockerel’s who are crowing all night long. My advice is take ear plugs. Hot water if you’re lucky only in the evening after the sun has heated the solar panels. The hotel is like marmite you will either love it or hate it. There are a lot of guests who come back every year. For the money it’s sort of good value but I can’t wait to get home to my comfortable bed. Take a sponge and tea towel with you save you buying it at the supermarket. The cooking facilities are very limited in the room only one of the hot plates worked. I can recommend the local supermarket for coffee...
Read moreFirstly, I also own a small business and so I also receive google reviews every day, so it’s with pleasure that I give this resort a 5-star review. The reasoning behind this is it does what it says in the advert, on the TUI website and more besides. So, let’s be clear this is a 3-star hotel and a very good one. The location is just off the main road between Rhodes and Lindos, about 10 mins by bus south of Faliraki. Regular buses both north and south and to the local beaches. The host is called Billy a lovely handsome local who owns the business with his brother. The rest of the staff are also very friendly especially Ged the English man aboard, but don’t get sucked into the film, he's an Evertonian with a very wicked sense of humour. We did self-catering, and it gave us the freedom we desired, albeit we ate here a few times and the food was very good but be specific with your breakfast order if you like your bacon crispy (it’s not a Greek concept). Room are very clean and functional. sheets and towels changed twice a week. it’s mainly a Brit hotel, so if you’re looking for a blondie Swedish goddess walking around the pool you'll have to settle for Ged in his Everton shirt! Locally there are a lot of places to eat, especially up in the town, but we enjoyed the OLD HOUSE about 100m metres away a couple of times. Well worth staying in on quiz night if you want a good laugh and a few drinks. All in all, great value for money and lovely hosts......thank you. Picture from Lindos a bus ride...
Read moreAmazing welcome by Ged and Terry, nice cold beer on arrival (or drink of your choice). All staff were very friendly and helpful, but Ged was the star of the week - his warmth and humour made our holiday 🥰 We ate several times at the bar, and would highly recommend it - kitchen is closed for a couple of hours between 3 and 5, and then reopens until 10pm. Also would recommend Golfer Resturant, which is about 15 minute walk from Nimar. A must is the "rubbish" quiz held twice a week, it's a good opportunity to meet the other residents and a lighthearted evening. Pool is small, but plenty big enough for a dip to cool off, plenty of sunbeds available. Rooms are basic self-catering, with kettle, toaster and small hob. Beds are very comfy. Shower curtain will become very familiar with you, my handy hint is to place the small stool in bathroom in shower and put curtain around that. And just accept its more of a wet room! It's cash only, but they're happy for you to run a tab during your stay. We paid at the end of each day to keep a tally on spending. Drinks and food are all very reasonably priced. Would recommend Nimar for couples, and adults of any age, wanting a relaxed holiday. Would definitely return, if only to see...
