A Hidden Gem on the Road – "The Old House"
Who would have thought that a roadside restaurant could deliver such a delightful experience? "The Old House" completely surpassed our expectations with its charming atmosphere and authentic vibe. True to its name, the restaurant feels like a cozy, welcoming old house, exuding warmth and a sense of history that makes you feel right at home from the moment you step in.
The food is where "The Old House" truly shines. Every dish we tried was excellent, but the standout was definitely the meatballs dish, which is beautifully presented in the pictures. It tasted just like a genuine homemade meal—comforting, flavorful, and cooked with love. Another highlight was the octopus, which was incredibly tender and packed with delicious, fresh flavors. And let’s not forget the Greek salad, which was enormous and filled to the brim with fresh vegetables, feta, and olives—a perfect accompaniment to the main dishes.
Adding to the charm of this delightful spot is the fact that it's a family-run restaurant, just like so many other beloved eateries. The personal touch of the owners, who clearly pour their heart and soul into every aspect of the experience, truly elevates "The Old House" to something special.

We ordered the mixed grill for two, which came with tzatziki and pita bread (served warm, crispy on the outside and soft inside – simply perfect, lightly brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with herbs). We also had a Greek salad (a generous portion) – it’s amazing how something so simple can taste so good. The vegetables were fresh and of great quality, and the authentic feta was absolutely delicious. The gentleman serving us was kind and helpful, and even advised us on choosing a proper Greek beer – it was excellent. I’d gladly come back here for another authentic...

We had cheese balls (OK), stuffed mushrooms (excellent) garlic/rosemary mushrooms (excellent) roast potatoes (with lemon and rosemary - fabulous) chicken and mushrooms/cream (wife's favourite) and cheese topped shrimp (my favourite, just delicious - note they are part prepped have head and tail on). Also had meatballs but weren't to my taste. They treated us to a doughball/cinnamon /honey combo that I could not resist. Staff were good, service was quick enough, all the dishes were freshly made. Mavrodaphne after dinner wine finished me off. A really great...
