Ich berichte von einem persönlichen Besuch 10-2021 ca. 18:00 Uhr Ortszeit im Restaurant „Katholiki“, Afandou. Das Restaurant „Katholiki“ liegt in der Nähe des Strandes von Afandou auf der griechischen Insel Rhodos (ca. 1 km entfernt). Da es ein wenig abseits der Verbindungs-Fernstraße „Lindos-Rhodos“ liegt, habe ich für Navigationsgeräte die geografischen Positionsdaten vorangestellt.

Das gute Landrestaurant mit sehr guter griechischer Küche liegt an an einer extrem wenig befahrenen und ruhigen Verbindungsstraße (zwischen Haupt- und Strandstraße). Schon beim Ankommen wurden wir herzlich empfangen und zu einem ordentlich und geschmackvoll eingedeckten Tisch geleitet. Es gibt den typischen Freisitz (Tische und Bestuhlung im Außenbereich) und zum Glück auch einen überdachten und windgeschützten Gastronomiebereich (sehr gut, es war „oktoberbedingt“ am Tag unseres Besuches,18:00 Uhr, doch schon ganz schön frisch). Das Restaurant war sehr gut besucht. Auffallend waren die vielen griechisch sprechenden Gäste (dazu auch eine größere Gesellschaft), immer ein gutes Zeichen, wenn „Einheimische“ auch in ein Restaurant gehen und dort verzehren. Es gab alle üblichen Kaffee- und sonstigen alkoholfreien Getränke, sogar ein wohlschmeckendes griechisches alkoholfreies Bier. Und auch eine ordentliche Auswahl an alkoholischen Getränke. Zu den Speisen: Linie: typische griechische Landküche aber sehr gut und wirklich wohlschmeckend, „traditionell“ zubereitet. Hervorragend gewürzt!

Preis- Leistungs-Verhältnis: Absolute Spitze! Tolle Qualität der frischen Zutaten und Speisen zu sehr preisWERTEN Preisen! Was wir gegessen haben: 1.) Regionales geröstetes Weißbrot mit Olivenöl 2.) ½ Portion Tzaziki 3.) ½ Portion Kopanisti (spicy Käse-Chreme) 4.) Gemüseplatte mit gebratenen Auberginen, Paprika, Zuccini 5.) Soutzoukakia (Fleischbällchen mit Tomatensauce, Pommes, Reis)

Zu 3.) Sehr lecker, Käse-Creme, leicht scharf, sehr lecker, einfach & toll Zu 5.) das Highlight: Soutzoukakia Hervorragende Qualität, gute große Portion, sehr gut abgeschmeckt (Kräuter und ein „Hauch“ von Zimt, ungewöhnlich aber sehr lecker, typisch griechisch

Als Überraschung gab’s noch einen „Gruß aus der Küche“: Ravani Poliitiko, typischer feuchter Grieskuchen mit Creme-Decke. Auch wichtig: Service: extrem aufmerksam! Speisen werden i m m e r frisch zubereitet. Fazit: Ein toller Besuch mit sehr gut schmeckenden Speisen, ordentlichen Portionen und sehr gutem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. We are a couple who have a good taste; nice gusto and loves to eat good food, enjoy the life with good food and we can say that Katholiki was one of the best of all Rodos and believe me that we visited quite a number of restaurants in the whole island. We opened our Rodos holiday with this restaurant and closed our holiday again with this restaurant. I would definitely recommend to book one night table for your local dinner in the garden of this restaurant. Gemüse, Dolmades, fried eggplants, zucchini, green peppers and fresh potatoes with tomato-garlic sauce, tzatziki, pita bread, Greek salad, baked feta, souvlaki and lamb chops was our favorites. We decided to spend the last evening of our vacation in this lovely tavern after checking the excellent reviews and a tourist guide on the internet and we werent disappointed at all!! The staff was very friendly, especially Alex, who attends to the guests with great passion. My partner and I shared the mixed special plate for 25€ and we had more than enough to eat. The prices are more than fair, the food tasted phenomenal and at the end we got treated to ouzo and chocolate icecream for free: we enjoyed this visit to the fullest and highly recommend this restaurant!

Tip: If you decide to walk to the restaurant from a location near the beach side through smaller streets (with google maps): DON'T Please just follow the mainroad and you are fine. We tried to find the place, ended up in the middle of nowhere and got lost...
