We traveled all over the island, and there’s no doubt: Hotel Platis Gialos is where I’d tell every friend to stay. It’s run by two wonderful brothers whose family has owned it for three generations—offering that warm, Greek hospitality without giving up privacy or comfort. It still feels like a true hotel experience, just with heart.

The rooms were filled with thoughtful details that really stood out—like a dedicated area to do your hair and makeup (such a bonus), great pillows, plush extra blankets, and even high-quality shampoo and conditioner (not a given in Europe). They even included a separate towel for makeup. Everything was truly geared toward comfort.

The location is unbeatable—on the beach but with a view of the whole bay, with their own private dock where you can swim right off the rocks (which we loved). They also have a pool—rare for this part of the island—and daybeds for lounging. Platis Gialos is a dreamy part of Sifnos: beautiful, walkable, and full of great food and local charm.

The food at the hotel was phenomenal. The new chef has really elevated the menu—fresh Greek yogurt, fruit, savory dishes, and even fresh-caught fish (we watched them bring in an octopus that was later served at dinner!). Everything felt healthy, abundant, local & very Greek!

When my daughter and I first arrived to Sifnos, we had missed the taxi because we missed the first ferry. The ferries are very much on schedule all the time. The hotel provided a driver and picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel. The room was wonderful, clean, very comfortable, and the overview of the bay was phenomenal. The breakfast is handmade by Fabiola and it is so good. She’s an amazing cook! When we needed something, anything out of the ordinary they strive to provide it for us. I don’t think we were ever turned down. The island itself is amazing. We loved everything about our stay at Platys Gialos hotel. From the moment we arrived, Dimitri was the perfect host - he welcomed us to his hotel and gave us the best tips about the island he loves. This hotel has been in his family since the 70's and he shared lovely stories about it. The hotel itself is perfectly located just by the beach and with a direct entrance to the sea. Our room had a beautiful view and the hotel had lots of nice and quiet spaces to relax and enjoy our holidays.
