We went to NUS on a Wednesday night. We ordered octopus, eggplant, crab pasta, and the stuffed filo desert with cream filling (bougatsa) and acclaimed toasted pistacchios.
Although the atmosphere was spectacular, the portion and texture of the food was dissappointing compared to how it sounds on the menu. They have good ideas, but the execution lacks a soul. Just like the service, all of the servers we interacted with were not attentive and didn't seem to care about our experience, especially our negative response to some of the food.
The octopus carpaccio was great, but each slice was very thin. The total portion could barely feed one person.
The eggplant had a nice feta cream, but it contained the stem which was very chewy and inedible (I couldn't even cut it in half). When I told the server about, he didn't seem to care and was very diplomatic about his answer, whicheft me a bad impression.
The pasta and soft shell crab tasted great. We thought the pasta sauce could be a little creamier. Also, there was barely any meat in the crab, which might be normal for this type of crab. But, overall that was the best dish we had.
The filo roll desert was a bit dissappointing. The cream/mpougatsa filling was overpowering, the filo had a harsh and sharp texture that hurt our mouths whenever we got a bite. Also, the menu said the dish had pistachios. We tried our best to search for the pistacchio flavor, but failed to find it. After we payed our bill, I asked our server about it and he seemed defensive, acting surprised we didn't taste any pistacchio.
The expectation did not meet the price we payed. We will not come back again.
P.S.: At one moment, my girlfriend asked for a different table lamp, because the one we were given was very dim and almost out of battery. The server helping us was mumbling to herself, telling us she couldn't find another one. She seemed overly frustrated before fetching another one that was...
Read moreA true disappointment. The steak that was served to me was totally inedible and chewy. I took one bite of it and could not eat it yet The restaurant made excuses and still charged us for it. No problem, I paid. Also, the lamb dish was way too gamy and also inedible. My wife took one bite. Again, we were charged for it as well. When I gave feedback, they made excuses. This place is not fine dining and no wonder it was empty at 8 pm. Reservation not needed. This place is nowhere near the other fine dining options in sifnos
Edit: thank you for correcting my spelling - I typed my review quickly as soon as I got to the car. Better now? Also, I encourage everybody reading this to scroll through all of the critical reviews and notice how this business (alexandros) replies. They are sarcastic, condescending, and downright nasty. As I said: you are not fine dining. The...
Read morePleasant location on the beautiful Platis Gialos waterfront.
Service was a bit too slow and lacking attention to detail - eg wrong orders, plain water instead of sparkling etc.
Food - this is the third time we’ve visited in the past few years. Previously the food has been excellent. However this year the menu is less exciting, the quality has declined (eg overcooked pork chop) and some of the flavour combinations are less thoughtful than before.
Price also not always reflective of expectation - eg €3 per person for bread and then 3 small slices of bread to share is provided. Just seemed a bit off.
Would loved to have said the experience was again excellent as has previously been the case, but sadly not so on...
