My wife and I stayed at Marina Beach for two weeks at the start of September and found that most of the youngsters were in other hotels, and the people staying there were quite normal, no party animals or idiots. It was quite near the end of the season so a lot of the rabble had already been and gone||As with other reviews we will say that for a cheap holiday it was ok...and we realised that by the basic but usable accommodation. We were lucky enough to be put in room 15 which has the best view of the pool, beach and the sea stretching over to the Greek mainland.||If you are used to luxury then the beds and lack of things like a TV may not please you, but in this area you are meant to be outside enjoying the great views and the many activities that there is to do here on Corfu.||The beach may have a bit of weed, and a little litter on it, but when you start to explore the surrounding area you will find many beautiful places and people who will do anything for you.||You can take the bus and visit other beaches and towns, take boat trips to other islands or even Albania which is a wonderful trip, hire cars, bikes, quads beach buggies and taxis, everywhere you go they will invite you in with open arms, if you just buy a couple of drinks( there is no such thing as a drink) then the pool and amenities are yours for as long as you are there.||The variety of food to choose from is varied from cheap Full English to Chicken souvlaki (yum) or if you want to try out the supermarkets or local shops and eat Greek or not, everything is available, but check out the menu before you buy if you are on a budget as the prices on Paxos may be more than you think due to the high number of sailing crew with money to burn.||I am not going to tell you anything about the people who run this place apart from the fact that they all work very hard during the season to keep you as happy as they can.||There are men walking around selling wrist and ankle bands( So Good) was the patter from one of these friendly people,if you do not want an item then just be polite and say no thank you, if you actually start to talk to them then they will start with the patter, and they can be very polite and good with the ladies.||I was bit by mosquitoes on the first night even though I always tell myself to spray up (so spray up) and dont get caught out like me, they itch and can go septic if you scratch.||Everyone I met in the two weeks we were there were nice and pleasant to my wife and I, so I have no complaints, The area of Corfu is not very large and is different in its own ways, be careful on the roads as there is a lack of kerbs(sidewalks) but go exploring and see the real rough side of living in a really sunny country, but wear good shoes, so many people on bikes with flip flops took me by surprise, there are laws and police on Corfu but you can get away with three on a bike with no lights on at night in Kavos, so be careful out there, and don`t become a victim of drink, drugs or getting mugged, if you fall over drunk and wake up in one of the Red Cross units or without your wallet then it will be expensive to YOU so try and not take the pis*, as the drinks are strong and cheap. Overall we had a fabulous time and if you are over 40 September is the time to stay in this Hotel and visit this resort.||Would I go again to Kavos Marina Beach Studios, now there is a question. I'd say yes but of course there are so many places to see...
Read moreHave just got home today after spending a week here....and what a week it was. Don't expect 5 star luxury but do expect to spend your holidays with an amazing family who really do look after you.||We arrived at the hotel at 6am with about 4 other groups of people and was met by Ben who showed each of us to our rooms. We paid the 50 euro for aircon (which is defo needed) and the 10 euro for the safe. The rooms are very basic but quite spacious and clean which is all we are bothered about. The rooms are cleaned every day but as other reviews have said that is all. The cleaner doesn't make your bed you only get 1 set of towels for the week 2 if you are there for 2 weeks and the sheets were only changed once. I would recommend you take your own extra towels and these are the only reasons why I won't give this place a 5 star review.||Once we had a few hours sleep we got up to discover that where we were staying was a perfect location. The studios are right on the beach which is really clean with stunning views over to the mainland but far enough away from the strips so you get no noise. It is fab that you have the best of both worlds with the beach and the pool. The pool area is really clean with plenty of sunbeds and as it is Kavos the pool area does stay fairly empty till about 4pm. ||We didnt venture onto the main strip as the mini strip had everything we needed from lovely restaurant's (Pavlos Terrys and Savvas are great places to eat) to some good bars our favourite being Marias famous karoke pub which we went to most nights then ending up back at the 24hr bar at Marina which is lethal but oh such fun. Great place to be after a night out. Ben keeps you entertained well into the early hours...in some cases late enough to watch the sun come up. The drinks are reasonably priced 3 euro for a large beer and the food is great too....Helena does an awesome omelette.||Going to Kavos we were expecting to find young kids making lots of noise but the people staying at Marina ranged from early 20's to 60's and we have spent the last week with the most amazing group of people and have made some firm friends....our Kavos family.||One recconendation I have is if you have a late flight (We didn't get picked up till 2am but had to vacate the room at midday) go to Thomas laundry as he let's apartments for the day for 20 euros which you can keep till you leave whereas at Marina you can only have an apartment till 7pm due to the fact they have to be cleaned for the early morning arrivals.||All that is left for me to say is thank you Ben, Petro and Helena for helping to give us one of the best holidays ever....cant wait to see you...
Read moreWhen we arrived in our accommodation, late evening, I was expecting a basic self-catering apartment, There was no kettle to make a cup of tea. We tried to use the hob to warm some water up but it didn't work, and the toilet did not flush. We raised the issues, and somebody came up, about 11pm. He brought up a kettle, tried to get the hob to work but couldn't, but promised he would come up next day to mend this (this never happened and we were unable to use the hob throughout our stay) and "fixed" the toilet. The toilet lasted a couple of flushes next morning then stopped working again. This was Sunday Morning and it was Monday afternoon before we had a flushing toilet.||||We had no bin in the bathroom, and as we cannot throw used toilet paper down the toilet, I had to go out and buy some bin liners - we eventually got a bin about 4 days later (which was broken), the toilet roll holder was broken, and we were given half a toilet roll - another 2 were supplied during our 10 day stay, so again we had to go out and buy these. ||||I had 1 hot shower during the 10 days, the rest of the time, the water was cold, or at the best tepid a few times. ||||We had 1 change of towels during our 10 day stay.( 1 thin towel each). No mat was supplied to stand on when getting out of the shower, I had to ask and eventually we got 1, after a few days this was wet and dirty, was taken away and never replaced. ||||It was 4 days before any housekeeping was done, and bins were emptied, not very hygienic in hot weather, in the bathroom, and that was only when we had asked several times for this to be done. The floor was very sandy when we arrived, so the apartment had obviously not been cleaned.||||I appreciate that some of these appartments are basic, and not expecting luxury, but a clean room, with housekeeping/clean towel every other day, a hot shower and a flushing toilet are basic requirements, and as these are self catering studios, a working hob and a kettle. ||||A plus point was a lovely view from the (shared) balcony, and the room...
