Savvas Kavos — Restaurant in Municipality of Southern Corfu

The service was pleasant and friendly; they asked us a few questions and had a decent conversation with us. The food arrived relatively quickly, around 20 minutes, and it all came together at once.

We ordered pastitsada, and while the meat was fine, it was a bit dry. The pasta sauce was average, but not the worst. Surprisingly, they asked if we wanted Parmesan cheese with the pasta (7/10), but when they brought it, it was a strong-smelling Gouda or something similar – definitely not Parmesan.

Next, we ordered a vegetarian burger, which was the worst I’ve had (5/10). We also tried the chicken ala cremé, which was probably the best dish. The sauce was excellent and creamy, but there was very little rice on the plate, almost half of what should have been there, but it didn’t bother me much as there were enough fries. My dish, sofrito, also lacked rice, and the salad was below average, with just one tomato, one cucumber, and a bit of lettuce without any seasoning. The fries were unsalted. The sauce was probably the highlight of the meal, and the meat was fine.

For dessert, we had baklava, which was not bad, though it felt more like a semi-frozen pre-made product (5/10).

The restaurant is located a bit further from the city center, so it took us a while to find it, but the large sign in front of it made it recognizable. Inside, there are fans, so it’s not too stuffy. They have a TV, and pleasant music playing.

Bad choice for tonight's dinner. Being in Kavos for a week we had already the opportunity to try some restaurants and honestly we have found so many great places to go. This Restaurant Savvas Taverna is not one of those good places, at least not anymore. The starters were bad and frozen, no taste at all. One of the starters was mushrooms but they looked so horrible like something you buy on the cheapest supermarket. We didn't want it so we asked to replace it for another starter. The other starter I decided to keep I don't even know why, because it was also frozen and no taste at all. In the end when we asked for the bill they decided to make us pay the replaced starter, of course we refused because we informed we were not expecting such a bad thing and we are not obliged to eat and neither pay for something that we can't even eat for being so disgusting. Note that they never informed the mushrooms were frozen. One of the waiters said if we don't pay for it he will be the one paying for (?). The coffee was only water, so disgusting. If you asking me why the 2 stars it's only because the main dishes were OK. I noticed this restaurant has a good rating and that also made me feel this place would be a great place for dinner but in the end became a big dissapointment. Corfu and Kavos have much better places to go for food than this one I...

I tried the giros, the meat was hard to chew and the potatoes undercooked. Sorry, but they will not have my business again.

Thank you for your notice first yesterday and today we dint serve any giros second is not our specialty is just an add on in the menu when exactly did you come???

My response to you is I cannot believe the nerve you have. I was in your sorry place 3 days ago, I had a 3 course menu, I wanted it take away, the starter was the mushrooms ( from a can !!! Wtf), the main was the excuse you call a giros and instead of desert I had a coffee that I tried to drink then and there while I was waiting for my order. The coffee was terrible as well. If the giros is not your speciality, just remove it from the menu! Don't serve people second hand food you don't know how to make! So, next time you think I would be liying in my review, think again, because I would have raised your rating should you have been more customer oriented but noooo, obviously you are not ! Also, just so you know, I have the receipt too....
