Economou Mansion — Hotel in Municipality of Spetses

What a perfect gem! I almost don’t want to let the secret out but I have to shout it out! This place is a real treat! Everything is elegant, charming and perfect. Nothing out of place, absolute cleanliness and discretion are only the starting point. But there is an aura of quietly working and caring talented people that create a little heaven in what is already a lovely place.

BEST BREAKFAST by Manolis, home made aromatic preserves and pies and freshly baked pastries, good coffee, and an ever changing list of small treats, and the POOL UNDER THE PALM TREE AND THE JASMINE in the centuries old courtyard!

Very lovely old mansion (sea captain’s house I think?) in a great location. Breakfast by the pool was wonderful, as is swimming in the pool. The rooms are very comfortable and I loved mine right on the water. The shop next door has wonderful things (it’s owned by the people that own the hotel) and I love the location, just a little out of town but with many restaurants. This hotel is a great value for the money. Only thing is the owners should get a Magic Eraser and clean the dead mosquito streaks off the walls. That was kind of gross. Bring mosquito repellent; but that’s the case of many hotels in Greece so we can’t fault...

My father died suddenly. With regret I had to cancel our trip. Economou Mansion said the same cancellation fees applied (50%). Ferries, airlines and other hotels had compassion, requested a death certificate, and refunded the whole amount paid 100% but the Economou Mansion did not. They have not answered my emails which I sent in English and Greek. They have an extra €430 and they don't intendo to return anything, even though I am sure someone has booked the room we cancelled. Not a good recommendation and not good treatment of guests. I tried to give NO STARS but it was not possible....
