Lumiere spetses — Hotel in Municipality of Spetses

This is a fairly new hotel located a 5-10 minute walk from the ferry port in this most upmarket of Greek islands. It is a comfortable ‘bolt-hole’, rather than a place to relax as there is no swimming pool, lounge or garden as such, but it is located in a quiet quarter of the town.||We took the King Room with balcony which, although the décor and furnishings are on the minimalist side, was surprisingly comfortable. The room had a wardrobe (not always present these days), safe, minibar, efficient air-conditioning and a very good power shower. The best aspect of the room was the private balcony running along one side of the house. The view is towards the port but the sea is obscured by rooftops.||Breakfast is taken in the patio area. It was not buffet-style (at least while we were there) but rather tailored to whatever your needs – with a hot option. ||Perhaps the best part of staying here is the manager – Fotis. He is extremely friendly, charming and very willing to help in any way he can whether it be breakfast, taxis, dinner reservations, transport advice etc. Unfortunately both my wife and I had health problems (different ailments and not related to the hotel) while we were there and his help e.g. in locating a physiotherapist, was invaluable! ||He is new to hotel management and in some ways it shows. Whilst the necessary business/strategic components of the enterprise are run smoothly, his lack of experience was sometimes evident. Certain things are slightly amateurish e.g. breakfast should have a proper menu or be a buffet; the balcony did not have a sun-shade; bathroom needed a proper mat as floor was very slippery; house-keeping was a bit ‘rough & ready’ – nightwear tossed over a chair, tables not cleaned etc.||Nevertheless a pleasant,...

Lumiere is one of the best places to stay in Spetses. It is located just a few minutes from the port, very accessible either by scooter or on foot (approx. 5 minutes walking distance from the central port of Spetses). The hotel is a marvellous and renovated building situated in a calm and very cosy neighbourhood. The room was spacious, super clean, modern and provided all amenities one could think of. We had a wonderful fresh and handmade breakfast in the yard. Fotis is a great host and Iro is very polite, helpful and always responsive. They booked all restaurants, sunbeds, scooters and taxis and generally they helped us arrange everything we needed. An incredible secret. Lumiere is a wonderful boutique hotel, just opened a few weeks ago. Great, quiet and charming location just a 5min walk from the ferry, the shopping boutiques and restaurants. 3mjn from our favorite bakery on the island. Very clean, modern rooms all recently renovated. Best of all the service has been outstanding: from allowing an early checkin, to personally helping us rent quads and bikes to sharing authentic recommendations on the island, the owner operator has gone above and beyond.
