I’ve stayed at a luxurious hotel in downtown. It was good but so typical. Same facility and service you can expect anywhere else. My experience at Krispis was different. In short, it was authentically Greek. ||||The facility itself was very clean and well equipped with all the items I needed. The staff was friendly and warm. Their English wasn't good though, I could feel they treated me with their real heart.||||I am a little bit sensitive about night noises. So I was concerned about the Mediterranean nightlife noises. But against my worry, Krisps was so quiet at night. I think it is a rare asset you can hardly find in downtown. ||||My favorite hours at Krispis was taking a stroll around the hotel. 8 minutes walk from the hotel will take you to the side of 1500 years old citadel walls where you can look over the whole Thessaloniki and the Aegean Sea. From there with another 15 minutes walk, you can visit a beautiful park teemed with hundreds of year old pine trees. Also, you can visit 1500 years old David Church or 1000 years old Vlatadon Monastery with 8 minutes walk. ||||I think the most important part of tourism is tasting the authentic local food. several Greek traditional taverns are located very near the hotel. Some of the taverns are older and my age and you can see the photos of the owner’s father working there when he was young. Among those, I liked Konaki tavern most. It is the closest one, only 3 minutes walk from the hotel. The price there was cheaper than the downtown while quality is much better. ||||Also, I enjoyed dining at the Kreondis tavern. It was 6 minutes walk from the hotel. There you can dine looking down the whole city from the Mulholand kind of uphill balcony. The price there was slightly above the Konaki but still cheaper than the downtown. If you like to have some casual food, you can go down to Aristotle University street. It’s 10 minutes walk from the hotel and like other university towns, you can find all kinds of casual food at a reasonable price. ||||I stayed at Kripsi for 6 weeks. I enjoyed my time there, and I will surely choose Krispis again when I visit Thessaloniki next time. Thank...
Read moreUnfortunately it has been a terrible experience for me. The room I was offered was on the top floor without a lift and I had two large luggages to carry up with much difficulty. And as I entered the room, it was very small in comparison to its pictures and I couldn't open the balcony door for it was stuck and does not work properly. Further more the traffic noise is horrendous and has no curtains but some old fashion office style blinds. And the shower had no fixture to put the shower head hence you have to hold with one hand at all times while trying to shower. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. You feel you have been tricked for its not worth the price they are asking for it at all. And when I voiced it to the landlady Olga she was very rude to speak furthermore threatened me and neither would give refund nor a discount. Location is no good either it is in a residential area with a heavy traffic noise and music being played loud and being overlooked by the neighbours and a long way away from the seafront with an uphill walk. Overall I would not recommend the place.|Be blessed in the LORD...
Read moreLocated in Old Town up the hill near the Byzantine City Wall. Old Town is mostly residential. You have to walk 10 - 15 minutes down hill to to the main streets to have better choices for shops & restaurants. Old Town is full of very narrow streets & sidewalks. Parking at Kripis is a problem after workings hours when families are home. The Lonely Planets walking tour starts near the Byzantine City Wall and goes down hill to the water front and port area of Thessa loniki. Our ground floor #1 Kripis Studios Apartment was very comfortable. We had a ground level balcony which we used every day but the mosquitoes come out in the evening. Kripis puts out breakfast food in the small reception area. You bring you plate & cup from your room & get your food buffet style. Minimum selection but adequate & good quality. The safe provided was too small to even secure your camera or...
