The view from this place was absolutely fantastic. There was friendly staff, reasonable prices, and the food was good for the most part. However. I think the chef got given too much freedom in what they could serve. My main course was written with these details: pork loin chop pancakes with marinated cucumbers, mustard, and yogurt sauce. I saw that and said to my girlfriend, mmmm, that sounds interesting. Knowing full well the severity of this unusual combo. However I was not prepared for what the waiter set in front of me with a big grin - a stack of thick pancakes, with store bought processed ham slices slabbed in between, all with the plastic macdonalds cheese, a generous amount of cheap yellow mustard and Greek yogurt oozing from each layer. Still, I took a bite with a belief in the chefs vision, but after a few attempts at this has to unfortunately tap out. I then tasted my girlfriends beautiful Greek omelette and then felt as if the dishes were made by completely different restaurants. One was a mix of workable flavours that was a local favourite, and mine tasted like the sandwiches I make when I’m low on groceries and use a bunch of random and old condiments. Anyway, the moral of the story is to travel with caution at this place when ordering the pancake dishes, but instead choose the local favourites. You won’t be...
Read moreA co-worker suggested we try this tour after telling her about the one we did in Boston at Sam Adam's R&D facility and really enjoyed the experience. Luckily for the Anchor tour, we only had to book (online, $15/person) about a month in advance to get a reservation the first weekend in January.
Our tour guide, Delia, was knowledgeable and friendly. You'll spend about 1.5 to 2 hours starting with a beer to taste and dive right into the history, brewing process, facility tour, and end with 6 tastings. Our beer sampling included: California Lager, Brotherhood Steam, IPA, Barrel Ale, Old Fogle Barley Wine Ale, and the 2015 Christmas Ale.
Recommend for locals and visitors who enjoy beer!
PS Plenty of free parking in the area, no time restrictions. Especially convenient if you want to walk the Mission and...
