Castra- All Day Terrace Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Thessaloniki

Would love to have given this place more stars. But the experience at Castra-All Day Terrace Bar, left us with a slightly bitter taste in our mouths. We felt like we were treated like tourists who were not trusted to pay our bill. Why? Because we looked too casual (shorts and t-shirts - it was 30 degrees Celsius today after all!). The young lady who greeted us was not overly friendly. And just after she delivered our drinks to our table she asked us to pay. She said rather abruptly, "you pay now!”. Not like a question. But like a statement. She claimed she was finishing her shift and that we needed to square off our bill before she left for the day. Which would’ve been understandable had she not been standing at the door with all the other bar staff more than half an hour later looking like she was still at work. One star for the nice drinks. One star for the impressive view. And one star for the nice and smiley you man who actually did seem to care about us...

That's possibly the worst place in Thessaloniki and it's a pity because of the panoramic view... The guy who claims to be the owner is racist and he hates pets! He litterally kicked us out of the bar because we had a tiny dog. The worst was that he first let us order from a very poor menu with double prices than the rest of the cafeterias in the area and then he waited for us to pay him without even touching our drinks and to leave because omg we had a tiny dog weighted 1 kilo! He said it's against the law! Like smoking I assume but all people were smoking... he insulted us and we left... a few steps after this bar it's Propylaion with the same view a larger variety of drinks and food, better prices and amazingly kind staff! Cafe castra doesn't worth a penny because the staff has ruined the place. I am so sorry I was recommending this place to...

This review is about the beer tour and tasting. I came here on a Thursday for the afternoon tour. The group was about 30 people and the vast majority of the group were couples... I was 20th wheeling, didn't bother me but for anyone who might go on the tour just an FYI.

The tour guide was really funny, and kept the tour very lighthearted. We started off with a tasting then went through the brewery and ended the tour back in the tasting room where we had 8 tastings. I have good tolerance for being Asian and I was pretty buzzed by the end of the tasting... They did get higher in alcohol content by the end. Would recommend the tour to everyone, locals and tourists alike.
