This hotel was our base for 10 nights and it was also our first time ever in Santorini! Black Sandy Beach is a family run hotel located 2 minutes from Perissa Black Sand beach and a 1 minute walk from Bobs Bar bus stop that connects you directly to everywhere on the island.
I visited Greece with my Girlfriend and we began our holiday on the 1st May, from day one the staff and owner were very, very friendly (guess thatās the Greek way) and we got invited out for a free ride to Oia (which would have cost over ā¬10 for both of us) to watch the sunset and have a wander around. However, the weather was a bit poor and hazy so we didnāt get to see a sunset.
One downside was that during our first night they had a Christian school staying and that surprised us because booking through TUI it said āAdult Onlyā and unfortunately they made a bit of noise in the night and kept us up. Regardless of this we felt acknowledged and grateful to be invited out.
The first morning we had breakfast and throughout our whole stay there was a theme of the cooked food being cold, that didnāt really bother me but it did my Girlfriend. Maybe keep it hot for the duration of breakfast and not just the first half an hour. Nonetheless, the first night we stayed on the ground floor which was nothing like the pictures I had gone through whilst booking the holiday, I got in contact with the TUI rep and they rang the hotel to sort things out, it must have worked as we got given the top floor with an amazing view of the Ancient Thira mountains.
Overall, the holiday was amazing and we learnt a lot about the Greek culture but also about the owners history and how he came to owning the hotel and building it himself with his Father! We would without a doubt stay here again; just to let you know there is an accommodation tax when you check out and it was about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just had a weeks stay here at the black sandy beach. we booked last minute and just wanted a small local and friendly hotel, thatās just what we got. The hotel small and compact, well maintained with lots of little peaceful areas you can still peacefully to read a book or just have time out if you donāt want the pool / beach. Lovely welcoming staff who are always around to help and answer any questions, apologies I forgot your names :-( The rooms are cleaned immaculately everyday with fresh towels if needed. Small bathroom, with toilet and shower cubicle and sink, big enough for small hotel, twin room. Toilets are provided and are good quality. The room itself was a little small, the wall paintings are unique, not my cup of tea. Tv in the room but all in Greek. Kettle and necessaries provided daily or just pick Up some more at breakfast. Fridge in the room, kept freezing and leaking. Safe in the room was provided. Small intimate pool, clean and cosy, but you are 3 mins away from the beach and the resort strip along the coast. In town there are bars are tavernas etc. breakfast is basic, but has everything you need and is tasty. Rooms have large balconies or terrace, rooms are fitted with shutters if you want a black out. If you are venturing out I recommend read the reviews then go and have a look as some top restaurant are not the best the just cater for volume and there are tavernas and beach bars out there that will rip you off. Definitely get the bus out and about and see places, cheap and easy to use. As the island is a volcano, get some beach shoes to go on the sands and in the sea. Expensive resort compared to the rest of Greece, but somewhere to put on your to visit list. Thanks for the relaxing stay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMe and my partner have just spent a lovely 7 nights at Black Sandy Beach hotel and absolutely loved it. A very warm welcome from Dina and Byron who always asked how we were and what we had been doing. Rooms are not the biggest but we had everything we needed and a super comfortable bed and beautiful terrace area which was very private due to the bourganvilla flowering. Rooms are spotless and cleaned daily. Breakfast was lovely with a choice of fresh fruit and yogurts, to a Greek breakfast and cooked offerings also. You are a 1 minute walk from a great Irish bar and the bus stop into Fira and a 5 min walk to the beach. The pool area isnāt the biggest but this made it feel like it was our own private pool and villa and we always had a sun lounger. There are two other sunbathing areas with the roof terrace a real sun trap. If there had been a plunge pool up there we would never have come down. We would absolutely recommend this boutique hotel and its staff and will return next year. Thank you for taking care of us and a very worthy 5 out...
