Elle s’est converti au christianisme et a tenu tête a sa famille en refusant le mariage forcé en s’exilant sur cette île ; c’est pourquoi l’île porte son nom ; saint irene = santorini ! U podnóża charakterystycznej skały znajdują się ruiny kościółka wzniesionego na domniemanym miejscu pochówku św Ireny. Bardzo zaniedbane miejsce, zamknięte, ogrodzone zardzewiałym płotem i ostrymi krzewami. Na placu znajduje się zrujnowany budynek i kilka kawałków po kolumnach antycznych i trochę gruzu. Jak się jest na miejscu w Perissie to ostatecznie można zobaczyć, ale nic szczególnego.

Unfortunately, this historical place, which gives the name to Santorini (formerly and officially Thira) seems to be left to itself..
