This was our 3rd visit at Areti over the course of 13 years and it has managed to retain its authentic Greek charm over all of that time.|The rooms are a little dated but perfectly adequate. Air conditioning works really well. We had one of the top rooms again so the views are absolutely beautiful!|The grounds of the hotel are immaculate. The cleaning staff do a fantastic job and the family keep their gardens and flowers beautifully maintained.|The pool area is beautiful- great views. The sunbeds aren't the most comfortable I have to admit. These seem to have been replaced in the past 2 years since we last went but they aren't very good quality and the supporting bars do hurt your back etc if you catch them in the wrong way! Hopefully they will splash out on some better quality sunbeds because aside from that, the pool area is great!|The pool bar is stocked sufficiently with drinks and they offer a small food menu that is tasty. |The family are so friendly and welcoming. I believe the son, Kostas, manages things now in the main and he is fantastic. Really friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Happy to have a chat and is really personable. |Locally - if you turn right out of the hotel there is a 5-10 walk downhill into Troulos. A few supermarkets that are well stocked, a bakery and some lovely restaurants. Would highly recommend Casalingo pizza, Totem cocktail bar and Salt & Pepper restaurant.|If you turn left our of the hotel there is a 10-15 min downhill walk into Platanias/Agia Paraskevi. Again, a few supermarkets and lots of restaurants. We highly recommend Maistrali and Kohyli ❤️|The bus service in Skiathos is really efficient so if you don't want to walk back up the hills you can get the bus as the stop is right outside the hotel. We always walked but I can understand that those with mobility issues might struggle. |We also recommend either getting the bus or hiring a car and heading over to Agia Eleni beach (past Koukanaries) to watch the sunset and maybe have an evening swim.|All in all, Areti is positioned in a fantastic place. It's a small, family run establishment so will feel a bit rustic but take it for what it is and enjoy it. I'm sure we will be back in...
Read moreJust back from a week at the Nina-Areti Studio's which is situated between Troulos and Agia Paraskevi.||||This is a very basic and typically Greek, self catering accommodation that has most things you need but lacks the comfort element.||||Firstly the room . We had a studio apartment with side sea view which consisted of a very small balcony and no shade.||||The beds were singles and not very comfortable for us being in our mid-50s.||||There was a large wardrobe and dressing table with not a great deal of storage but adequate.||||Bathroom was awkward due to there being no shower screen/curtain causing flooded floor and slip hazard.||||On arrival we weren't sure where to go as there was no-one to greet us and we ended up in the Areti Apartments which are completely separate. Having finally located the Nina Areti, Nina greeted us (lovely lady) accompanied by her family member who translated for her. We were charged 60 euro for Aircon and 14 euro for Greek tax. We declined the further charge for a safety deposit box!||||A couple of other things to mention. The hill leading to the apartments is very steep. We managed it but it would be easy for younger people!||||Only 8 sunbeds around the pool isn't sufficient considering there are 12 apartments. It was difficult to get a bed particularly at the end of our holiday when people started laying towels on beds and not using them! There is plenty of room for beds which should be addressed.||||We used the bar at the neighbouring Areti every night - the views were beautiful.||||We had a lovely week - Troulos and Agia Paraskevi were both walkable and we enjoyed meals in both.||||Nina Areti is an impressive looking property from the outside but for us it made us realise we need more comfort for a base when we...
