If youâre looking for a boutique hotel with the widely accepted definition of the term, then this is not it. Serviced apartments at best!
We arrived earlier than the check in time and were informed by a waiting guest that reception was closed and that they were being taken to their room by the cleaning lady. Not a problem of course buuuuut youâve guessed it, not the stuff boutique hotels are made of.
As we sat down to wait we had the opportunity to process the two construction sites next to the âboutique hotelâ and wondered whether they were active construction sites (spoiler alert they were)
True to boutique hotel standard practises (and I should know as an ex hotel staff myself - Sani Asterias Greece, Belmond Oxfordshire, IHG Dubai) this was a detail that no one deemed necessary to disclose upon booking. (More on this later, it gets better)
We sat outside at midday to wait (our fault for both showing up earlier and thinking there might be a comfortable place to wait) and not long after the receptionist rocked up. Here I must say that I had the worldâs weirdest check in experience. Clearly annoyed at the fact that we were there earlier the young gentleman proceeded to check us in using as few words as was humanly possible. (Both of us speak English and on top of that I speak Greek and Russian so language was not the issue) The whole experience was more hostile border control than hotel check in. But he got the job done and swiftly took us to our room. ( I know, I know more of what boutique hotels are made of) Upon entering our room we discovered that we lost the Russian roulette of âwill the view from your room be the one in the picture or will it be to the back of the reception building/ smoking, eating, phone scrolling area for the staffâ. It was the latter. (More of what renowned boutique hotels are known for) We contacted the reservations team and raised our concerns about the construction site and the view from the room. Lucia got back to us at the lightening speed of 24 hours later to lay down the construction site law in Greece and let us know that she was powerless to change it. As a Greek I was relieved that all is not lost in my country and hotel employees are not in charge of anything other than avoiding to gaslight guest in a desperate attempt to mask their poor communication and guest relations skills. The best was yet to come. The morning view of the smoking area was made even more beautiful by the sounds of drilling and yelling from the construction men. Evidently even they managed to communicate more efficiently and politely than Lucia. We made our way to the breakfast area and managed to snug the last available table. Had to move around a bit to avoid the sun (there was a reason it was the last available table) to enjoy what I could only compare to what we used to pack guests for breakfast whenever they had a 4 am checkout. Not terrible but not what you expect of a boutique hotel. No hot options, terrible coffee. Unfortunately/ fortunately that was our last attempt at breakfast as the next day there was no room at the breakfast area.
Honestly knowing how difficult the hotel industry is from within, I would have avoided leaving this review as I always do whenever I have a bad experience. However the way we were spoken to by supposed professional members of the team is downright unacceptable. Just to give you a perspective the above concerns /requests were deemed âexaggeratedâ and despite of speaking to us throughout our stay and beyond as if we were two imbeciles that had the audacity to request a better view (the one advertised) and not being woken up by construction site noise we were told that we are hateful and should have spent more money on an actual 5 star hotel instead of expecting this from this âboutique hotelâ (Iâm not even joking you can check for yourselves on booking ....
Read moreWe visited Mon Avis Boutique Hotel for the first time and we were extremely happy with the choice we made. The apartments are originally furnished, with perfect taste; enjoyed the most comfortable mattresses. Very nice green garden, beautiful flowers, all surrounded by the enchanting olive trees. The pool was very clean, well-maintained and my daughter loved it. The breakfast was simple and tasty (pastry, cheese, eggs, vegetable, juices, coffee). Basic cleaning every day, bed sheets and towels were changed even daily, if needed. Very good wi-fi. Ivan is a great host, always responding to guestâs questions with a pleasant smile. Big thanks and appreciation to Nassi đ(I hope I wrote that correctly). She was everywhereâŚ.from the breakfast greetings (âa very good morningâŚâ), until the evening â very nice and kind, spreading a sense of calm and discretion. Thank you for your kindness and hope to...

Very clean rooms and very clean property, they do pay attention to every detail. The rooms have a kitchenette which was very usefull as we were travelling with a baby, the mattress was very confortable and for even a better sleep they had electric shades which were helpfull in the morning. The staff was super friendly and helpfull, they even bought a baby chair for us to use it while staying there. To top it all up, the breakfast was served in the room and it was more than enough to have you...
