Pefka Golden Beach — Restaurant in Thassos Municipality

We came one evening for dinner - when I asked about a table, I was shooed away by one of the servers, so we left. Ok, maybe they were too busy. We came back for lunch 2 days later and the service was horrible - grumpy servers, no hello, no nothing. I asked 3 different people for coffee grounds (for the wasps) before they brought it. I asked if the Grilled Feta was fried (as I have a gluten allergy) and they said no - they brought it to me, obviously in batter. When I asked if it had flour, they said yes. So I had to re-order something. The table next to us were waiting for someone to pick up their plates for 30mins and they had a swarm of wasps around them. In the end, they took away their own plates as wasps were stinging them. Toilets were disgusting. I was disappointed, as I had expected a wide selection of fresh fish to be offered. However, when I received the menu, the server mentioned nothing about it, and I found that most of the fish options were frozen, with the rest of the offerings similar to those at other beachside restaurants. If you enquire about fresh fish, you will be shown an impressive selection to choose from, which I highly recommend. It's a shame that this selection isn't more prominently advertised or promoted.

That said, the fresh fish I selected was cooked perfectly and tasted excellent.

I may have been unlucky during my visit, but it felt as though the restaurant had once been exceptional but has since lost its way, perhaps due to fatigue from a long season. I hope they can regain their former quality, and that your experience is more...

Food is fine, but you have few restaurants around with similar quality of food but position and picture of restaurant is something special. It looks extremely romantic till all living insects, especially wasps mosquitoes and ants don’t come on food and you when you get it. Wasps problem is generally common on whole island but restaurant staff help you only if you call for help. Also staff problem is unknowing of English language, or they don’t like strangers….still I am not sure.
