This may be one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. My boyfriend and I came here during the low season of tourism, and as it is quite smallm we were the only guests! Every wonderful member of the staff was tending to our every need and went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful time. We stayed in the beautiful "Magia" suite, which had a working fireplace, and Freddy made us a fire in our room everynight! Our room also had a gorgeous, enormous bathroom with a free standing tub that was so elegant, and windows that opened into the little pool. They went to the trouble of preparing a table on the roof for us for breakfast each morning, which an amazing view of Antigua. The breakfast was excellent, everything so fresh and you could order whatever you want! ||||The most memorable thing was the dinner we had there - which is a MUST!! ||We came out of our room to find that they had put tea candles EVERYWHERE, so the entire atrium of the Inn was flickering in candleight, and they had made a trail of rose petals starting at our door to our room, and ending covering the BEAUTIFUL table they had set up in the middle of the atrium for us to dine at. Again, we were able to order whatever we wanted, we had wine, a three course dinner, and an amazing dessert, totally alone in the most romantic setting! It was such a special evening, and such a special meal! I wasn't expecting anything like it!||||Overall, the service and quality of this place in unparalleled. The fact that it is so small makes the service excellent and attention to detail wonderful. Truly a...
Read moreOur stay at Posada de Los Leones property in Antigua was disappointing for several reasons.
First, the gated community security has some quirks. If you’re not with the person who registered their name, you may face issues or delays getting back into the complex. It’s inconvenient and frustrating and we weren’t aware of this upon booking/check-in.
Second, while the property is outside the core city area, you still hear significant noise at night—music, cars, and barking dogs. Since there’s no air conditioning or ceiling fans, we had to open the windows to cool the room, which made the noise even more unbearable.
It’s also worth noting that this isn’t a hotel like others—it’s listed on Airbnb, and the owner lives abroad (USA). Communication was difficult when we encountered issues, and when we had to cut our stay short, they refused to offer any goodwill, such as refunding even a single night. Given that we were paying over $400 per night, this lack of flexibility and customer care was shocking.
Lastly, the in-room amenities were underwhelming. Basics like coffee, tea, a bathrobe, or tissues were missing, which you would reasonably expect at this price point.
Unfortunately, our experience didn’t match the expectations set by the listing. If you’re considering staying here, I would recommend exploring other options in Antigua because it’s indeed a lovely...
Read moreFrom the moment David picked us up from the airport and patiently waited for me to put car seats in his shuttle (not the norm in Guatemala)... we were completely at ease (with 3yr old twins in tow.) Wendy was very helpful with our booking and all of our questions before, during and after. Freddy... we love you! Each morning he would wow us with breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking the active volcanoes. My husband & I Are world travelers and have travelled extensively with our children, but we were not sure what to expect taking them to a friends wedding in Guatemala. The room was incredibly beautiful, the hotel is such a hidden gem. One of my most favorite of all of the places I have been lucky enough to have visited in my life. We were made to feel like family and the hotel is absolutely stunning. If you have the chance to stay here, do it! Our trip was meant to be child free, but plans changed... if you happen to be traveling without kids...it is VERY romantic. Also the surrounding neighborhood is gorgeous, full of fountains, mountains, flowers & volcano views. Unbeknownst to us it is a gated community (a guard post for which we needed a guest code) which was nice for us with the kids to have a bit more freedoms, and almost...
