Can’t ruin my day! Antigua actually used to be the capital city of Guatemala but in the 1700’s a series of devastating earthquakes hit the town and destroyed a lot of churches and convents and so the capital moved to what is now Guatemala City. Today, some of the ruins have been restored and others remain as crumbled rocks making for an awesome day of exploring and learning about the history! Here’s a list of some worth checking out!! If you’re from Antigua or have been, which is your favorite? 1. Church of Candelaria 2. Church of Santa Rosa 3. Church of Santo Domingo 4. Convent of the Capuchins 5. El Carmen Church 6. Santa Clara Convent 7. Church San Jose Cathedral 8. Church and School of the Society of Jesus 9. San Jeronimo Convent 10. Visiting these ruins was a delightful experience. The ticket was not very expensive, making it an accessible adventure for everyone. The true charm of this site lies in the freedom it offers visitors. We had the liberty to explore at our own pace, wandering through the fascinating old architecture without any restrictions. One of the highlights was the serene atmosphere. The site wasn't crowded, which allowed us to enjoy our own space and take uninterrupted photos. The beauty of the ruins, combined with the peaceful environment, made it a truly enjoyable outing. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a quiet place to explore.

These ruins do have some fine stucco work on the walls, so fans of Spanish colonial architecture might enjoy this. But the ruins are meagre compared to other ones in town. They are also fenced off, so you can only see them from a basketball court besides the complex.

This would be a romantic-looking ruin had it not been for the fact that there is a basketball court set up right in front of the facade. A very small ruin, consisting of the façade and not much else, you may pass it on your way to the...
