El Refectorio — Restaurant in Sacatepéquez

We have dinned at Casa Santo Domingo several times since it first opened. The reason I gave it four stars is because of the beautifully restored setting. It is the ancient Dominican monastery and is absolutely stunning. The service was fine also, although they got a little confused. We enjoyed very much the tour of the kitchen. This is a professional operation. However, the food left a lot to be desired. I am speaking mainly of the steaks. One of the "finest" (and not the cheapest) restaurant in town with the worst service ever! Reservation were not registered, and without major explanation just take it or leave it table at the extra dinner room. Beside of that a Hair in the plate with and excuse that sounds to acusation from cooking captain, and exchange of plate take more than 30 min for a steak! I think this is the best restaurant in all Antigua. Breakfasts are delicious, lunches and dinners are superb. The chef, Mario Campollo, is a renowned chef around the world. His kitchen is excellent, top class. besides that, the restaurant is fully renovated and it’s in the most exclusive and beautiful hotel in Antigua, Casa Santo Domingo. Service is also awesome....
