I stayed with Diego, Thelma and their extended family for 3 weeks while studying Spanish and the experience far exceed my expectations. Diego and Thelma are amazing hosts - attentive, kind and fun! I felt like part of the family. Diego and I would work together in the morning (on our laptops), drinking coffee and chatting. In the evenings we'd eat dinner together, laugh and chat some more. Both Diego and Thelma work for local NGOs and have lots to share about local history, politics, social issues etc. I spent most weekends off adventuring but was also always welcome to join Diego and Thelma for family events including birthdays and casual get togethers etc. The rooms are also very comfortable. Diego and Thelma designed the home themselves and it is very rustic chic. Spacious rooms, comfy beds, desk and chair, tidy bathrooms and even a yoga space with a view! My stay included meals which were all great (and vegetarian). Proper coffee which was a big plus. Location is in a quiet part of time surrounded by trees; easy 10min walk to centre of town. In summary - highly recommend. A great experience, with great people, in a lovely town. I can't way to go back.

the BEST authentic Guatemalan homestay with Diego and Telma, honestly the coolest thing we have done in our 6 months travelling Latin america. Hosts have a passion for great fresh food, good coffee and very patient with us learning spanish. They were lovely people and now life friends who welcomed us to family dinners & lunches over the weekend. Our San Juan La Laguna itinerary dates were tight, but Diego accommodated our customised stay over the weekend (5nights). We hike Myan Face at 4am one morning Diego packed us AN AMAZING picnic and coffee thermos that had other jelous. The cabana accommodation is very new and neatly finished, we slept great while staying there. Staying with diego and telma is A MUST when visiting Lake Atitlan!

I stayed here for two weeks while attending eco spanish school and loved it! My room was clean, comfortable, and I appreciated having some hangers for my clothes. Telma and Diego are awesome hosts and prepared delicious meals and coffee. They also communicated very well over whatsapp and were very patient with me trying to communicate in spanish. They are very personable people and fun to be around. My only regret was not staying longer!
