Starry mountain is not very well maintained. Chairs fall apart and I had to be careful not to be hurt by rusty nails standing out the wood. As there was often no toilet paper, they told me after 1,5 weeks, that I need to bring my own toiletpaper. There was no warm water for more than 4 days. And the manager tried to blame it on me, that I was not using the shower correctly. The manager’s English speaking skills are very low. The owner seems not really caring how the guests are feeling. His answer to my complaint was simply “I don’t take care of such matters.” The laundry is overprized. They ask you 70Q, where at other places nearby you pay 15Q. The kitchen was often a mess. Views are great from the platform. The aerial equipment is nice & safe. But you can do aerial silks with a much nicer view and cleaner silks at eagles nest. The dog and the cats are lovely & I met a few amazing artists at starry. The neptune room is big, but not cozy and very cold at night. And you can find cheaper rooms that are way nicer. Overall I have to say, that I didn’t feel cozy & well staying there. I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreStaying at Starry was a very pleasant experience. Kari is super easy to communicate with, such a kind and lovely person. The location is great (from my perspective), close to town. Keep in mind that in San Marcos, most guesthouses are not easy to access, as you often need to walk along small trails or alleys since tuk-tuks don’t usually reach the doors. So it’s best to bring light and easy-to-carry luggage. Starry is no exception, but it’s much closer than many other places I saw around.
The service and volunteers working there were very welcoming and helpful from the moment I arrived, making sure my stay was peaceful and my needs were met.
The garden is super beautiful, a great place to do aerial classes and connect with the community.
I gave 4 stars for the accommodation, not because I didn’t like it (I actually really liked the Venus room!), but as a constructive suggestion, since the guesthouse and its facilities have potential for improvements and small adjustments that could make it even more beautiful and comfortable.
I totally recommend it and would definitely stay...
Read moreWhen we booked our stay, we were almost scammed by Starry Mountain. The only reason we weren’t was because we reported them to Airbnb. We found alternative accommodation in the area. Before this, we had already bought tickets to one of their events. We went in the day, as it was just up the road, to see what’s what. And decided that with a free evening, the tickets to their event, and 2 mins away, we’d check it out. Well, they had upped the price of the drinks and the food. The food was very expensive for portion and for quality. None of the staff knew how much anything was (probably down to changing prices all the time), we had to tell them from the boards on the bar menu that we could see. The toilets were horrific- no doors, no light, dirty, no water for washing hands. The only thing that made us stay was the event show. They were an ace circus group- crazy talented and worth the ticket price. But also the only thing worthwhile...
