We found the hotel to be spotlessly clean, comfortable beds but terrible pillows and I'd definitely recommend taking your own or a inflatable one for underneath them, only 2 English speaking TV channels and those were CNN and sky news, the air con was a blessing as we were in a front facing room and the noise is horrendous if you have the window open, the hairdryer is pretty old and only blew cold air, if you like milk in your coffee it makes sense to take sachets of latte/cappuccino with you, the walls really are paper thin though and you can hear everything from the room next door, even farting which as you can imagine was delightful! 𤢠the mini bar is well stocked and not expensive, the bar/restaurant on the corner about 50mtrs from the hotel is really good, the food is delicious and huge portions and lots of options and the staff are lovely and friendly, we highly recommend it and they were still serving food when we arrived at 11pm, its much better going in there than the hotel bar as its pretty grim, we arrived back in the hotel at 1045 pm and all the lights were off and it wasn't exactly welcoming after a day out walking around the city even though the hotel seemed to be pretty full during our stay we never saw anyone drinking in it, breakfast was an average continental and plentiful, the staff were all lovely and friendly and helpful and speak very good English, in our opinion the hotel is more like a 2/3 star rather than 4, its pretty dated but its a good base if you don't want to be in the city centre, its 5 stops on the bus (8e, 110, 112 to get into Pest) leave the hotel, turn right and go round the corner past the pub, roughly 100mtrs, buses are very frequent and you can buy bus tickets from hotel reception, we recommend a visit to the ruin bars, szimpla Kert (?) Is pretty cool, Google Budapest ruin bars and they're about a 10 minute walk from where you get off the bus, the citadel is great for views over the city and you can walk to it from the hotel in about half an hour or about 3 stops on the bus but be ready for the climb, it took us about 20 mins to get to the top and we're unfit š the sightseeing buses are good for getting your bearings and figuring out where everything is, the pics are the view from the front rooms and the menu for the bar at the corner,( I recommend the honey...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStayed here for 3 nights, with my wife, during a brief stay in Budapest.|On the whole the hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff are generally courteous, regarding information about sights to see etc, depends very much on who is on reception. In our case we were fortunate, as the gentleman gave us an in-depth explanation about best places to visit. Unfortunately I canāt remember his name to give him a mention.|We had a front room on the 3rd floor. This was extremely noisy as the hotel faces a very busy main road with a flyover. Add to that the noisy trundle of the tramcars! My advice would be to try and get a back room if possible.|En suite facilities were clean, towels changed every day. Beds were comfortable. Flat screen TV. Minibar in the room although we didnāt avail of this as there was no price list. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room but please bear in mind there is no milk! As seasoned travellers we found this very odd. When we asked about this at reception, we were told they donāt supply milk, but it could be purchased at the fuel station, diagonally across the road. Sandwiches, snacks and drinks could also be purchased here.|We were on a B&B basis. Breakfast was okay. Included was a choice of breads, cereals, mini pastries, ham, cheese, fruit, hot dog type sausages, scrambled egg, bacon, boiled eggs, fruit juice, tea and coffee. In our experience the dining room staffās knowledge of allergens etc was limited.|If you are budget orientated and want to get to the hotel from the airport cheaply then take the 200E bus from near terminal 2 to Metro Line M3. From here take the Metro to Ferenciek Tere. Then either bus number 8E or 112 to BAH - Csomopont. Hotel is then only a 4 to 5 minute walk. |If arriving at the main railway station, then bus number 8E or 112 from here to BAH - Csomopont.|Hotel is on the Buda side, a good half an hourās walk to Pest or the same bus numbers as already mentioned. Bus travel is inexpensive. Best and slightly cheaper to purchase bus tickets from the vending machines. Some of the drivers can be a bit stroppy (as we found out) if you purchase...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe hotel was a little further out but had good links to transport which were easy to use and cheap.
The hotel itself was a little dated but really clean. The room was nice enough but only had one plug socket (far away from beds) which made it difficult to charge items as there were two of us. The shower in the bathroom was too powerful to the point it did not stay on the hook. At one point it snaked around the bathroom and soaked absolutely everything in there covering the whole floor with water. The room was extremely hot no matter what we did. We resorted to opening the window but this allowed lots of traffic noise to keep us up at night including ambulances etc. the beds were comfortable and did the job.
We told the blonde lady (short hair and glasses) about the shower on reception and she just laughed and did not offer any advice. We spoke to other guests who said their showers did the same thing too. The safe in our room was also locked and when we spoke to her about it she seemed bothered that she was asked to help us and said in an irritated tone ādo you need it now?ā. The same lady we found extremely rude especially when we were trying to book our hotel transfer to the airport. She misunderstood what I said and got extremely arsey in her responses and told me I was in the wrong. At one point over the phone to the transfer service she was mumbling away in Hungarian which was clearly aimed at me. She was argumentative and also told me off for giving her the āwrong informationā about paying in euros when I never even mentioned euros. Every other staff member we encountered was friendly just unfortunately not this lady.
Breakfast was good, quite a bit of selection to choose from. We got an early train over to Vienna one morning and the man on reception allowed us to take some pastries with us.
We recommend the hotel transfer - was a mini bus and cost...
